The fact they have done more successful and last longer than hearsay as well, I miss these days when it's was before X factor :')

Same. I also miss going to music stores and buying CDs. No such thing as streaming back then, even RU-vid didn't exist until 2005. Apple had just released the iPod but only Mac users could use it and Macs were still a very niche product in 2001. I didn't have one back then as they were useless for games. Windows XP was state of the art when Thinking It Over came out but many people were still using Windows 98 (I used 98 til 2003 as my dad didn't want to upgrade straight away). Smartphones and tablets existed but they were more aimed at business users. Hard to believe how much things have changed

I’m really happy to hear about Michelle. All of them really, but between cancer & addiction…it’s so happy to hear people survive ordeals like those.

I'm a hoary old back-end-of-the-boomer-generation guy but I occasionally keep up with Pop from more recent decades and I had a three-fold interest in 'Popstars' in any case since Michelle Heaton is a fellow child of 19th July (born on my eighteenth!), Kelli Young comes from my home city of Derby (the suburb of Littleover) and Myleene Klass, out of the 'Popstars' Winners - who were eventually the Losers! - Hear'Say is a fellow fan of Norwich City Football Club, adoptive 'Derbyshire Canary' that I am. So, thanks for this video, Seph, which was very well put together and might be an inspiration for me, as I am a music-related Blogger/RU-vidr myself, although in a rather different vein. Of course, a particular highlight was seeing Michelle's birth date flash by momentarily and, being a contributor at the 'Fonts In Use' site, I think I recognised the font used in Kevin Simm's 'Brand New' as Eden/Morry, for which I have already made a font use contribution, so would I have your permission to go ahead and make a contribution of that? You ask for a favourite song. I suppose that, coming from the generation that I do, it would have to be that 'Fresh' collaboration with Kool & The Gang. In the mid-Eighties I was studying the Technology of Food at Nottinghamshire College of Agriculture and I'll always remember my room mate - also on the Food Tech course - being a huge Kool & The Gang fan and 'Fresh' was one of my Kool & The Gang faves.

Liberty X did very well from being labelled the flopstars, when you think of some of big record labels they only want the artists for awhile to make their money then when sales drop let them go, sometimes it’s best to do a one album deal then form your own independent label.

Thanks lots for this video about the band. Boy have they been through some tough times! But as they say "what doesn't break you, makes you stronger" I drove past a big advertisement saying they're playing here in town, so I'm going to go and see them. Have a great day :)

Check out the US Groups like Expose and Color Me Badd. Bryan Abrams had one of the most devastating downfall. Also if you can check out Unsung that focsued on the rise and fall of various r & b acts like musical youth, debarge, the sylvers and florence ballard of the supremes (1943-1976).

They were very lucky as a co ed interracial group because the UK looks at talent not color. To this day there hasn't been a sucessful co ed group from the us although many tried. Scene 23 that Josh Henderson was in before playing john ross ewing iii on dallas. The DeFranco Family where Tony Defranco was supposed to be the new donny osmond, and the party who were former mouseteers that were trying to cash in on the success of new kids on the block.

Nile Rodgers & Bernard Edwards are one of many Singers/Songwriters from the US who thank The Brits for keeping their music alive. Everybody Dance was also covered by Kimberley Walsh of Girls Aloud and Steps. Kenny Gamble/Leon Huff of the Philadelphia Soul Sound.

Funny enough, Liberty X wipeout Hear’say out of existent. Because they disappear after a year winning, the show and never hear or see again. While the 5 consistent didn’t get a spot in the group, performing their own group and became successful. Is remember and recognisable, then the winning group that won the show.

These guys are great Live I worked with them when they were just on a tour of Uk …we filmed a live gig at Cardiff Arena ….the tour was great and it lost a little momentum on the court battle over the name …I’m glad they are still trying to break big they sold out many arena s and the band topped the chart also they got millions of plays on MTV …… The band had to stop for a month or two while they sorted the band name out which was a shame as it slowed down the momentum but the kids still Loved the Dance etc … I’m in the video and thoughts are that they could make a return to the charts with a little help …… Liberty X come back soon…………I’m ready to tour…and so is the second in charge For support ?

It's funny that I felt like I had to side with Liberty X as a two fingers up to hearsay and pop music, I remember Kiss FM played Liberty X hard. Looking back though, they was an odd looking band who had good producers...and that was it. In the end, they was just the same as Hearsay with a different angle.....

The original Popstars had no public vote, so it was all left to the judges. I always got the impression the Popstars judges wanted an "S Club 7 lite' type group and the members who made up Liberty X didn't fit that image
@patrickmacdonald5539
@patrickmacdonald5539 Год назад
@@stephthestar90 Your theory makes sense! They were FAR too edgy, PLUS... Popstars was all about plucking ordinary people and making them popstars, so do you think perhaps they had Liberty X in the final 10 knowing they would be eliminated to reinforce the whole "normal person plucked from obscurity" theme? That way, people get excited watching the show thinking it's achievable for anyone? I'd love your thoughts!
@stephthestar90
@stephthestar90 Год назад
@@patrickmacdonald5539 You might well be right and in the days before social media and public commentary/votes it would have made sense. Hear'Say looked like five random people dragged in from the street and told to sing a few songs. The girls did well from it though., especially Kym Marsh. Most people know her as an actress now. Even S Club 7 were more polished than Hear'Say. They probably knew Liberty X looked more like a pop group than Hear'say did but that they wouldn't appeal to the young kids watching the show. (remember this was 2001, no such thing as Netflix then).
