@EdCollects you couldn't handle that shit on strong LICERGIC ACID DIETHYLAMIDE TARATRATE NUMBER 25 FROM FROM THE ERGOT OF THE RYE AKA LSD... ("LOL")!!!
His daughter said really nice things about her Dad. He got depressed after the show was cancelled. He got an offer to do theater which got him that role as a Judge. Really nice documentary on Fred Gwynne it was in Netflix .e
The Munsters were supposed to be a competing show to the Addams, but both shows were so different that both shows became legendary. I like both for that one reason.
Just a good all-around guy and a great actor. Loved everything he did. Couldn't wait for The Munsters to air every week. Hard to believe he's already been gone over 30 years. With age, I believe he was getting even better as an actor and if he had lived another 10 - 15 years he would have left us with even more memorable roles.
I’m 63. Watching “The Munsters” helped me laugh through my college years of incessant reading and term papers. My dad especially loved the character Herman Munster. RIP Fred Gwynne. ❤🙏
I'm 62..The Munsters was one of the shows I was raised up on also. I do remember "Car 54" but wasn't as big of a fan of that show as I was the Munsters. I had a crush on Lilly 😂. I loved the movie "My cousin Vinny" also.
@@murraychadwick9362 There were a couple of really funny episodes of Car 54. But The Munsters is a classic. And Fred Gwynne was so wonderful in Pet Sematary.
I lost track of how many times I've watched The Munsters. Children born after baby boomers even know about The Munsters. Great actor. I learned later in life about Car 54 which also had Al Lewis, the future Granpa Munsters. I love Fred Gwynne's roles in the movies he played in after The Munsters. Yes he had a very distinctive voice and I loved his beautiful eyes. FRED GWYNNE thanks for your entertainment.
I loved Fred! The Munsters were always my favorite. Didn’t know about his son drowning. Loved him in My Cousin Vinny and Pet Cemetery. Imagine what he could’ve done had he lived longer. He was an exceptional character ❤.
I remember a show where they had talked about him wearing some extra padding for the role of Herman they had said he had to take some breaks because he was sweating quite frequently in that big suit
Thank you for all the years of your great entertainment and a little note you are a radio man and a submarine Chaser. God bless you and thank you once again and also thank you for your service
Fred Gwynne a fave of mine. He did great work in many areas. Also an excellent voice actor. I remember his many performances on CBS Radio Mystery Theater.
@@EdCollectsAll I remember about the Addams Family was my man big Lurch. If you think about it, if your stand out character was an oversized behemoth like Lurch - what does that say for the rest of cast/show?
Your welcome Ed I really enjoy your fun Hollywood fun facts I don't have to really go to the library and look it up no more I go you to reference to Amen 😁😁😁😁😁
Yes I likeed there son Eddie or Butch I think his real name was and granpahh to but I'm wondering if Grayson was the same guy wo later played in happy days?
Another good one. Don't stop doing these. I grew up watching most of these. And there are interesting. Even the ones you do that I don't think I know I watch anyway. And find oh I know who that was. I enjoy these. Thanks.
Of course I don't know that one, but I'm looking it up right now! BTW, my NECA House of 1000 Corpses figures finally came in the mail! I never would have known about them if I didn't see your video!
I remember as a 6 year old kid begging my dad to get cable tv so I could watch the Munsters. God bless his soul, he did it and bought our first colour tv. Beautiful memories.
What a great actor he was I love him on the Munsters and I love the Addams family they used to air the back to back I love you so much your 1fan for life
Fred became one of my favorite actors from the Munsters when I used to binge watch Nick at Nite. My Cousin Vinny was a favorite movie of mine as well, and I immediately recognized him. He was a very well known and very cherished actor for his time. Thank you for taking the time to highlight his life and career.
At 71 I still watch him on MeTV on the weekends. I love that car that Lilly had customized for his birthday, and who could NOT love the house on 1313 Mockingbird Ln!! I fell in love with the show and everything about it. I would be so hard pressed to say which show I was more impressed with, The Munsters or The Addams Family. They were two really great shows for entertaining. That was a time when there were many great television shows to choose from. If anyone can run across MeTV hang on to it and give it a try!! There are many shows that will bring back a flood of memories for you to ponder!! Have gone from 'The Beverly Hillbillies', 'Green Acres', 'Pettycoat Junction'' ans so many more. From the 50s, Highway Patrol, Dragnet, Time Tunnel, Land of the Giants, Leave It To Beaver, Gomer Pyle USMC, and so many more to bring back a good many more childhood memories to ponder!!
Loved the Munsters!Platinum age of Television! The creativity at this time was beyond phenomenal from concept to execution to the Stellar and unforgetable actors, actresses and talent in general!Old school here but loving it!
Fred Gwyne was asked what was his favorite role. He did a lot of prestigeous work. But he said "Ive got to confess. I just love that Herman Munster fellow." I love then both.
Ahh man hated to hear of his passing He was a great and sincere actor, I remember many of his movies and never saw one that I didn’t enjoy, Rest in peace Fred😕😔
This man was a hero ,actor,& gave of himself by being in the public eye. Dying of Pancreatic Cancer,is sad, and, painful. He was amazing in all his endeavors. I &,much whoever encountered ,him were touched by his crafts, his persona, thank you for sharing this man with those across the world sometimes the internet makes earth seem miniscule ,people in all countries can appreciate humor, acting, and understand sickness(Cancer of anykind)affects, people on all continents. God bless this man . I rode with Al Lewis, (whom was on the Munster's series)with my friend Cheryl Bell,in a Parade, in the San Fernando Valley(1970's believe). Celebrating what I can't recall, back when I grew up ,parades were a big deal and watching them, Being asked to participate was an honor.🎉🎉🎉(you never forget, that or decorating a Rose Bowl float , Or anticipating the Macy's, Gimbal balloons,or other distinguished announcers ,or Grand Marshalls of those parades.you never forget, Nudies Western Wear,of California.
The Munsters was Hysterical, very funny antics, one of my favorite is when he goes for his driver's license, the old man was great.the road test was the icing on the cake, when alderman was letting out the clutch and the Oldman says STOP!
Definitely the Monsters, i watched that back in the 60's , along with Car 54 where are you. He played the judge in My Cousin Vinny ❤❤😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Rest In Peace Fred. Thank you for all the laughs you brought us ❤❤❤❤
Loved him in My Cousin Vinny. I also remember many of his other rolls. I also remember Car 54 where are you, I didn't realize he has been dead for so long. He wasn't that old when he died. He was a fine actor.
I loved The Munsters and faithfully watched all of the episodes and reruns. My siblings loved the Addams Family and watched them too. We had to come to a compromise sometimes but I still love the Munsters. At that time in our lives there was so much trauma going on in our lives and we all needed to see shows that made us laugh.
I got interested in Fred Geynne through "Car 54 Where Are you?" A friend of our family was a New York City Police Detective who told us Car 54 was his favorite tv show. He said if you asked an NYPD To tell you one funny story from "the job" you'd have a best seller and no one would believe it.
Absolutely loved this guy! The Munsters were my childhood family. He was amazing in everything he did, but his portrayal of Judd Crandall in the original PS was unforgettable!❤
He was so good in that role. I always felt the Academy dissed him by not giving him a nomination for Best Supporting Actor. But then again, the Academy never recognizes great roles from horror movies. I do believe he was recognized with a nomination for The Cotton Club.
Still missed. There will never be a better Herman Munster. Along with Al Lewis they created an all too short on screen partnership touched on comedic brilliance.
From Patr. Francis Muldoon, to Herman Munster to the Judge, FRED GWYNNE was one of my All-time Favorite actors and from everything I have read about him a PRINCE of a MAN ‼️ "The Addams Family" was cool, but "The Munsters" was outta the ball park as far as I'm concerned ! THANKS ED❗👍🏼❤️
I remember in my 5th grade class at Hanes Street school. We had a serious event one day.The Munsters or the Adam's family.Very passionate discussion that day.
And he had a very lovely tenor-bass voice. He could have fit to be in the Rat Pack (Sinatra, Davis, Martin, & Bennett). I loved him in The Munsters and as the judge in My Cousin Vinny. RIP Mr. Fred Gwynne. You're well missed and well loved. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Munsters!🎉😁 I LOVED that show!!! Never really got into the Addams family. Plus, Herman's laugh, & his goofball personality, always getting into trouble, was so funny!
Growing up we saw reruns of the munsters more. However both Adams family and the munsters were awesome. In late 1980s, we went to grandpas restaurant in nyc village..He was there that night.
