Yes-in my family-we all grew up watching and loving The Brady Bunch! Such a good show and many wonderful memories! I seemed to have passed on all the shows that I enjoyed growing up on to my kids❤❤❤
Robert loved the entire tv family but considered them his own. He asked them to live in his large mansion designed to give each cast member their own very large story and level to live and they did. Incredibly kind act.
Yes but hardly a challenge for a graduate of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. He should have been in Shakespearean plays or the very rare movie. West end would have better suited for him. Doing 5 minutes of Mike Brady each week would have been like sleep walking. However, that contract kept him tied down.
@@Au60schild it is the actor's job to do something with whatever material he is given. if you wait for a great script you won't work much. still, his frustration is understandable. they could have found better writers but perhaps the producers wanted to watch the bottom line [short sighted decision]
Robert Reed was such a a handsome man. Loved the Brady bunch. His role of a loving dad was so normal back then. It must have been agony to not tell who he was.. I hope his child is a happy and knows what happiness he gave to so many. ❤
He was great in the Brady Bunch, though he disliked the show. Supposedly, he was on the set for that last Brady Bunch episode. But he was never on camera 📷 😕
Actress Ann Haney (played Mrs Selner the court liason in Mrs doubt fire) was roberts best friend... One of the few people who knew he was gay before he died.
Everyone knew Robert Reed was gay before he died. Long before it Florence Henderson indicated in an interview that she could tell he was gay because he had a very difficult time getting through the kissing scenes. But that could be said of a heterosexual married actor who felt uncomfortable kissing someone besides his wife as well. Even Mel Gibson said the intimate scenes were difficult in Lethal Weapon as a newlywed.
There was a story on Robert Reed in People magazine back in the 80s. They showed his beautiful home with exquisite antiques and brocade everywhere. This is when I suspected he was gay because I had only seen gay men live like this. So I wasn't surprised when it was later confirmed. I still admired him and had been a fan since he was in The Defenders in the 1960s. He was also a very good father and close to his daughter.
The father whom Robert Reed had play Michael Brady. Michael Brady has turn out to be one of the first TV fathers to be more involve in his children's lives. The Brady Brunch was reflective of its times.
He actually played in 2 episodes of Battlestar Galactica 1980 as a doctor who knows things about radiation. But he wasn't kidnapped by 2 guys who turned out to be visitors from outer space.
Well he played a Great Father figure to a lot of kids that maybe didn't have a father / or had an abusive father! It's a Happy family show lots of kids could relate to!He was handsome and I'm sorry he suffered with HIV!A Very Great Man that should be Celebrated!!!
TRANS issues are everywhere today. He was in a edgy episode of "Medical Center" as a esteamed surgeon that wanted & got SRS sexual reassingnmet surgery. The show ends him/her walking away enfemme post_op.
1967, St Louis, MO. At the Fox Theater. My friend was his niece. He was do very nice. He so loved his niece. Then ladies with mink coats barged in. He quietly let us know he resented them for the interruption.
He hated doing Brady bunch!!!!! Robert Reed was an established stage actor that did Shakespeare and plays like that and now he’s doing crap tv like the Brady Bunch? That’s why he was depressed and unhappy doing that show!!! I read Barry Williams book about the Brady Bunch and he talked extensively about Robert Reed and how unhappy he was. I really felt for him. It wasn’t what he wanted to do.
He was a good actor. Too bad he didn’t do mist more after the Brady bunch. I know he was in Roots but I don’t remember him in anything after that. When the Brady bunch filmed in Hawaii, the humidity caused his naturally curly hair to frizz up. Previously his hair had been relaxed. After Hawaii, he left it naturally curly.
He had a good lane. He was a great performance act door but he do not desert to be screwed out of his scrip. He deserved to be treated a fair idea. That actor is with love and didn't but I love this man but he
It's was shocking when he was known for being a gay man. You never noticed anything was different. Some people say u can tell by their looks . I highly disagree look at him.
I kn this isnt related but im a huge.brady bunch fan i never knew he was gay so trajic😢😢 i got to meet Mrs Brady(florence henderson) here in flint michigan she was doing a promo for her play called "Annie Get your Gun"! My mother made me angry because Florence gave me a pass to her play my mom wouldnt let me go!! I was so frustrated at her😢😢😢 so didnt Robert Reed have a small role as a werewolf in a scary movie?
In those days in Hollywood people often had to have heterosexual marriages for their public image. It was generally agreed upon by the spouse but still sad.
@@TheNothing6 I wonder that myself. But I guess they just psych themselves up to it. My uncle was gay and he and my aunt, my mom’s sister, had 2 sons. But eventually my aunt started an affair with a straight man and my uncle went back to seeing the guy he was trying to convince his parents he was not gay with. But the whole being able to get it on with someone your body isn’t interested in… 🤷🏻♀️
@@denisebacher5040 Yeah. I get trying to hide it back then, but to actually have sex with someone you're not attracted to is hard to wrap my head around. 😂 Especially for a guy, you can't fake being excited like a woman can. 😂
