To all my brothers and sisters in Christ. Stay strong! Our lives here are just a vapor. Satan has already lost. At times it may not seem that way, but keep your head up. Remember our lord Jesus Christ faced much worse. Glory to God, because of his sacrifice, we have hope and eternal life! Life is difficult at times, I just want to say, lean on God for strength and understanding! He who is in us is greater than he who is in the world. The devil is trying to attack the body of Christ as much as he can. He uses all kinds of tricks, but before Jesus Christ, he is powerless. We have the victory! Glory to God!!! Look to the author and finisher of our faith and don't give up! Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. Love him with all your heart, soul, mind and strength! May God bless and guard you from the evil one!
Since we are sharing shame stories: 1. Edersheim's two volume work sitting in my library, 1956, 37th Edition, handed on to me in 2002 by a retiring Pastor, never opened until right now. Shame, shame. Will be my new daily reading to see if Pastor Bryan's hype about it proves true :) 2. While it was posited as more of a rhetorical statement/question from a church member during a Bible Study, that being, "When I get to heaven I'm going to be very interested in finding out where (i.e. what doctrine) the Lutherans have wrong." (The context of the question/statement implied that the Book of Concord might be suspect in some areas). To my shame I completely missed the immediate opportunity to say, 'Well, the Lutherans (really meaning - The Book of Concord) have it wrong at each and every place the Scriptures have it wrong!" At the time I had no answer to give, and kind of brushed it off as just being the personal "and not-so-important wonderings" of one of my parishioners. What a shame! What a missed opportunity to proclaim the confidence and comfort in how the Lutheran Confessional Writings, comprising the Book of Concord, receive and apply the Scriptures perfectly. The member who posed this question/statement certainly believed the Bible to be the inspired and inerrant Word of God, so, to my shame, I missed a perfect opportunity to form and solidify their confidence in the Lutheran Confessions as well.
