You’ve done him proud my friend. As someone with mental health problems it is sad that we are often defined by it in peoples’ minds. We’re much more than our illnesses and I really appreciate how you reflect that in your work. Unfortunately drugs and alcohol have long been seen as a way to explore the unconscious and unknown, but they have devastating effects on anyone struggling with their grip on reality. He really went through it. Thank you for this❤️

I thought he died in the 70’s. His life must have been torture. There wasn’t help in those days for serious mental illness suffers. However, it definitely seems likely that his condition was due to excessive drug use. Even so, there wasn’t much help available for people with illicit drug dependency. There is also the possibility he was somewhat of a mad genius? His head was probably racing constantly and he must have experimented with ways of taming and/or channeling it for creative purposes and to feel ok about himself? It’s nice to know that Dave and the other PF guys tried to help and support him long after they’d parted. Very bittersweet, sad for Syd, but the world got the Dave and Roger PF instead!
