In this excerpt from 'The Golden Hour: The STARS Air Ambulance Story,' Pat Jeffery explains the life of a flight nurse -- and flying to save her own brother.
My husband and I were in a head on car crash..it was the worst day of my life. My husband passed away in the ambulance, but thanks to people like you gave my husband comfort and dignity in the last few minutes of his life..thank you so much
I had the worst day of my life in 2009. I was air evac'd to the regional cardiac center. I thank God for the crew and their skills as well as professionalism. Thank you for all you do, from a patient who is still alive to thank you...
Thank you for saving my mother. I support STARS. Thank you for all you do. Bless you, God be with all those who fly with stars. keep stars in the sky. Amen
What a remarkable story. Thank you for sharing yr store with us. Stars crew also saved my so Ryan John on Oct 14th 2020 after he was stabbed in the middle of his brain at Boston Pizza in Prince Albert Saskatchewan. That night changed our lives forever. My son was at the wrong place at the wrong time, this random act of violence almost killed my 22 year old son but thanks to Stars crew they were able to get my son the help he needed in Saskatoon RUH and came out of his coma happy and healthy. So a big Thank You to Stars crew for saving my wonderful son. God bless all of you hard working people
@STARSairambulance I have been a nurse for many years, and Pat is truly the epitome of what I and many nurses strive to be. I am doing a nursing project that requires I do a presentation on a different type of nursing. I would love to interview Pat for this project, not only would it be a for sure A, it would enrich the lives of anyone who sees it, this video did that for me. Thanks.
Love this video so much!! I am about to train for flight nursing and I have so much respect for all she has done. My own sons life was saved at 10 and the team let me fly in with them to the childrens hospital on the helicopter. I’ll never forget then saving his life and as a critical care nurse I want to pay it back to whomever I can save as well. Loved her story of saving her brother. Absolutely understand knowing if she’s with him he would get the best possible care ever. What a great inspiration!! Blessings to you all in all you do 🙏❤️

Pat thank you for sharing your story. As a former flight nurse of 10 years,,,,we all have stories, memories and we carry emotional pain and luggage from the job, some of it is happiness. It's not easy, but it's part of the job we love. Pura Vida- motto of Costa Rica, it means "life is good."
I love stars I am a first responder and firefighter and I get the butterflies every time I see these amazing people come help the sick or injured keep up the amazing work and proud to work with these amazing people
This was such an incredible video. Pat, thank you for sharing this story. You are amazing, and everything about you is so down-to-earth and comforting. I can only hope to be half as incredible as you are in my future career as a nurse. I'd love to be a flight nurse, but am open to wherever life (and passion) takes me. Again, thank you.
Thank you so much for your service and dedication you are a great example of what it means to be a flight nurse. Your story is true meaning of a great human bean that you are.
Worst nightmare for a medic and in this case a field nurse who works on the helicopters or ambulances is responding to a call and it’s a member of your own family as well as close friends. I was a medic for 10 years and this never happened to me since I didn’t work in the county I lived in. My mom fell and broke her femur while walking on ice in the parking lot and that was tough to witness because she was in so much pain. The medics were wonderful as well as the hospital staff! She fell on 12/27/10. She was supposed to go home to FL 3 days before but I convinced her to stay for Christmas and the snowstorm. I feel really bad that I convinced her to stay because had she left when she wanted to this never would have happened. She was in the hospital (including inpatient rehab) for about 3 weeks and stayed in NC for about 3 months.
God bless Mrs. Pat..🍃🕊➕ You have an amazing 🌟job. May Jesus Christ gives you a strong heart to go on, Never lose faith in Christ, trust in his words💐💞and who he was and is to come..
