One of the most popular modes in Splatoon 3 has been Salmon Run. For the players that don't care for grinding in ranked or playing turf war, Splatoon 3 Salmon Run: The Next Wave has given players an addictive alternative to rack up their Splatoon 3 hours. Massively upgraded from Splatoon 2, Salmon Run now features new boss salmonid, 2 types of king salmonid, and a bunch of side modes like Eggstra Work and Private Jobs. So I decided to make a video showing what it's like to be a Salmon Run player and show off some of the highs and lows of the mode. How much Salmon Run have you played in Splatoon 3? Who agrees that they need to change the leveling system? I am EVP and I expect good teammates, but instead I get people who don’t get any eggs and don’t follow ANYTHING in this video.

Well I can definitely say that this video is accurate to the daily life of a salmon runner. I have 3,300+ (and counting) shifts of experience. The grind never stops. 5:13 I have 106 gold scales as of commenting this. I could perhaps get that banner one day. Amazing video as always Alpha! 🐯

Even someone who's played the mode as much as you only has 1/3 the amount of gold scales necessary to get that banner.

@Alphastar716 In my subjective opinion, gold scaled should be guaranteed if you kill a king salmonid, because if you kill one, you bloody earned those gold scales. As stated by someone who never beat a king salmonid and only ever got coppers.

Okay hear me out, Flyfishes are annoying, but what’s even MORE annoying are dealing with Stringers- No idea if it’s just me, but I always get matched up with people who underestimate what Stringers are truly capable of- 😭 (Also alpha, amazing pfp! Varsity did a great job! ^^)

I think both of them can be equally as annoying in their own way. Flyfish is generally harder to deal with, but can be more or less one-cycled with any weapon if you time your bombs correctly. Stinger on the other hand is a huge pain if you have the wrong weapon (charger, short range, etc) and the teammate with the right one isn't paying attention.

From what I've noticed, people tend to not prioritize on the Stingers unless they're the ones getting shot, which is quite annoying. I've seen people completely ignore them when they could've easily removed them from the equation.

Yeah, double or triple stinger is NOT fun to deal with. They also never come inland, which is annoying.

Every time a flyfish comes to my salmon run shift I always just assume they have a death wish. If you are a flyfish, *stay far away from me, or else you get bombs thrown at you.*

If you approach a fly fish with out any salmonids on you, you can kill it with one cycle after you throw the first bombs, just stay calm and get the second one out even as you see the missile lock on yourself

I don't play that much anymore. I think we REALLY need checkpoints for SR. I have limited time, and as it is rn I will never ever get to 999 or even HLM in Freelance, if I have to start at EVP 40 every single rotation. If I play for hours I usually make it to EVP 300-400, and once made it to EVP 600+. And when I start at EVP 40 the game LOVES pairing me up with teammates that just barely reached EVP, and are clearly overwhelmed by EVP. If we had checkpoints I'd have way more motivation to play more SR I think, especially if the game would pair you with other players close to your rank.
