I like to think that Monk Gyatso would have become a member of the White Lotus and have fought alongside Iroh to retake Ba Sing Se. Even though he would be pretty damn old if he had survived up until that point.
I think monk Gyatso became ang’s guardian because he was friends with avatar Roku and he figured that his friendship would carry over to his air Bender life and I think monk gyatso wanted to honor his friend by taking in his next life
GiggieGummiBear if he momo is Gyatso’s reincarnation I wonder how many times he had to reincarnate in order to see ang again since ang was frozen for a hundred years
How did Monk Gyatso wipe-out about a dozen firebenders, supercharged with Sozin's comet, before he died? Here's my theory: Gyatso knew a secret "last resort" airbending move that Aang was never told about. As they surrounded him, he sat quietly on the floor. Then, once they were close, he simply pushed all the air out of the room. He held the air out of the room long enough to suffocate all of them, and himself. Evidence for this: •His clothing is unburnt, and there is no evidence fire bending was used near him. Why would they have fought/killed him without fire? •Their bodies are lying piled up around him. If he killed them with airbending, they would have been thrown across the room. •Aang, as a child, wouldn't have been taught this dark technique, so it makes sense that it's not referenced in the show •We know this type of bending is possible (on a small scale at least) because Zaheer uses it to kill the Earth Queen. Think about how those firebenders must have felt. Standing over a frail old monk, feeling indestructible from the the power of the comet. Then suddenly, Gyatso pushes his hands to the side, and there's a rush of noise, then utter silence. They realise they can't breathe. They try to use firebending to kill him before they suffocate, but without air, there can be no fire! In one move Gyatso has gone out on his own terms, killed them all, and shown how the elements rely on each other, and the importance of balance. What do you think?
I think that's a good in-depth analysis of this paired with a badass description of what appears to be to everyone else a frail old man. It also sounds like-worthy. *like*
theres also a theory that there are forbidden air bending techniques that are reserved for life or death situations. If you look at the position he died in, It's likely that he killed all the firebenders and sat down to meditate until he died, seeing that he is ultimately a monk and decided to meditate in order to free himself from all the violence he just committed
Imagine if he was ever part of team avatar with roku lol. Imagine all the conversations and stories he was ready to tell aang of his previous life 🥺 imagine being best friends with 2 avatars 😭 imagine growing up with roku and learning alongside or even from him maybe even look up to him like a big brother. Then imagine many years later your best friend passes away and is reincarnated as your next best friend and now you have to raise and nurture him and teach him everything u learned with ur friend in his previous life and now he is the one that looks up to u like an older brother. If they were to make an avatar series from someone’s perspective other than the avatars it should definitely be mount gyatso👌🏻💯
To bad that normally the avatar would just travel with the white lotus to learn new bending, as you can see what they tried to do with korra (only the masters would come to her because of the red lotus). So yeah they would make friends but wouldn't travel together
Vicious Delicious that’s not necessarily true, roku made it seem like he traveled alone and I think even mentioned that the avatar has to find their own teacher. And even if that was the case I’m sure once the person is a full pledge avatar, they let them do their own things with their own judgement. Kinda like yangchen when she had to face that monster by her self and roku pulling to sozin by himself.
I loved that among the other air nomads who were all seriousness, Gyatso knew how to have fun. It was a breath of fresh air (no pun Intended) and really made me smile.
I'd like to think Gyatso threw down with Sozin as he was raiding the Air Temple, in a seated position while also holding off other firebenders during Sozin's comet
Mason the Merc 115 same, it would have been an awesome fight. If you have watched Legend of Korra and saw how Zaheer killed the earth queen, there are theories that Gyatso did the same thing to those Fire nation soldiers. Gyatso removed all the oxygen in the room thus leaving them to die instantly and resulting in his death at the same time, which explains why the fire nation soldiers weren’t close to Gyatso and why he didn’t seem to have many injuries/burns on his clothes. Cheers
Just to say: **Gyatso died of suffocation, he suffocated all the fire nation soldiers including himself, but I think he knew Aang was still alive, so to protect him he killed the fire nation soldiers so they couldn’t tell anyone about it, since they are all dead.** Your welcome! 😛
Can you imagine Gyatso angrily confronting the elders’ council like a furious father after noticing Aang had left the temple crying “it’s your fault!” and going ballistic against the fire benders like “you’re going down with me, you sons of bitches” kinda like in an avatar state rampage? Lmao, I’d love if the show or the comics went deeper into the air nomads genocide, not in a sadistic way, but more in a heart touching one
Sometimes I wish Monk Gyatso left with Aang, which lead him, Aang and Appa all in the iceberg waiting to be found again, he would've been a great mentor to Aang throughout the series and most definitely a member of the White Lotus.
If avatar was longer, I can imagine a little sequence with little Aang and monk Gyatso Ozai knocks out Aang for a second and these memories of Aang and his father figure play throughout his head
I think Iroh or Tenzin are the reincarnation of Gyatso because the relation between Aang and Gyatso is like the relation between Zuko and Iroh. Tenzin could also be because of the name Tenzin Gyatso. Plus they are as strong and the strongest airbenders.
Imagine this. The Fire Nation has already wiped out the North, East, and West Air Temples. During the siege of the Southern air temple, it was discovered that the avatar was from the southern air temple and so was his mentor Gyatso (the fire nation uses radio communication since all sieges are occurring simultaneously) As the the fire nation attacked the southern air temple, a handful of air benders escaped (which is confirmed that some air benders escaped), leaving gyatso to hold off the fire nation. Sozin himself and other firebenders stand in front of Gyatso and Sozin said “Tell me where the survivors went and more importantly, where is the avatar?” Gyatso looked up, smiled, and said “Preparing to destroy you” (foreshadowing future events). Sozin said “kill him”. Gyatso knows one air bending move that him and Roku created called final breath that suffocates everyone including himself (much like Zaheer’s but at a much larger scale). He uses it but Sozin is the only one who escapes while the rest die. Gyatso, lying there has future visions of aang defeating the fire lord and the air benders returning (harmonic convergence). He closes his eyes and says “I leave the rest to you young one”. He smiles then passes away.
watching this makes me really sad, seeing gyatso go "aang,im not letting them take away you from m-" and then seeing the letter makes me really really sad
Sometimes I wonder if he was a member of the white lotus, which would show how he likes playing Pai sho with Aang and his history with avatar roku for lifetime’s
There cannot be fire whatout air so why did The air nomands do this 1.make a small space with no air inside of them in front of the fire nation soldiers So they cant bend 2.use the other way air benders escaped In the avatar comics And done!
Gyatso and toph actually have something in common they both helped 2 avatars for a short time gyatso roku for toph Korea and also they helped Aang quite a lot
Would anyone like to see a life of Guru Pathik ? I know I would! 😎 RIP Monk Gyatso ❤️ No biggy but It’s pronounced *Indian accent* Guru PAHT-HEEK. No disrespect just wanted to inform the narrator, he does a great job hes a good narrator also the background music is awesome
Wait a minute if aang had air bender students why was tenzin and his children the only air benders to me seen in tlok until harmonic convergence when air benders got resurrected
Unpopular opinion: Monk Gyatso was making a major mistake by not taking Aangs training as seriously as the other monks. He should have realized that with the threat of war and aang being the avatar, growing up as a normal boy simply wouldn't be possible.
Imagine if airbenders became war driven killers, easily stronger than the fire nation, just 1 monk gyatsu was able to clap a bunch of super saiyan fire benders likely in their prime while he was old asf and a pacifist that likely never fought in a war(besides when the fire nation just attacked)
Airbenders has sound nullify, invisible attacks, has the best mobility, can turn sound instruments lethal, has 360° senses and manipulate gas(smoke(seen in Jinora's matery ceremony) and flammable gas(in theory due to seeming none problem in the Northern air temple). Imagine Airbending commando assassins.
I like to think that the guru has made trips to the spirit world and back so he met Gyatso and became friends with him. With all the knowledge of chakras he has it makes sense he does have that ability.
