2323;14ADHD is one of the most common neurodevelopmental disorders of childhood, and diagnosis rates continue to rise each year.
While diagnosis hinges on the presence of core symptoms like hyperactivity and inattentiveness, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD or ADD) is almost always accompanied by other signature factors and comorbidities - like emotional lability, mood disorders, and behavioral problems - that play a critical role in a patient’s care and trajectory. Improving the quality of care for a child means understanding the full scope of ADHD challenges, the role of a comprehensive evaluation, and the importance of early intervention.
In this hour-long webinar on demand, Adelaide Robb, M.D. discusses key concerns in diagnosing and treating children with ADHD.

Countless kids would benefit from their providers taking the time to listen, to absorb, and to apply this wealth of information.

People with Downs syndrome apparently have at least 3-5 times the level of diagnosis of ADHD and may have a prevalence of up to 30-40% in numerous peer reviewed studies I have discovered just recently. So why don't paediatricians screen for this early for kids with DS, when it can have such a major outcome for them and their families with learning. My daughter living with DS is 15. Only after my 16 y.o. son's diagnosis last year of ADHD, and mine (47 y.o) this year am I realising she may have this too and am waiting for appointment with her paediatrician (4 month wait just to raise the question which should have been asked by them 10 years ago!!). I see her struggling to progress with speech (compared to many of her DS peers) and language and feel dismayed that she may have been able to have progressed much further with medication that's helping her brother and now me. It would be great to get a response to this from the speaker. Seeing this minority (those with DS) being mentioned in a presentation like this as it's aimed at paediatricians and general practitioners it seems who could help DS kids and their families by making it more widely known. Thanks for considering my words.
