The Lighthouse (2019) 4K UHD Blu-ray Review! 

I'm in the same boat. I cannot decide if I like it or not.

FYI. I believe Arrow is also releasing their own version soon as well.

Is it bigger than the normal A24 releases? They are bigger too I know but this looks more bigger. Kindly let me know. Thanks.

@@Kashif314 I don't know what you mean by bigger, but it's in a nice collector's box with some cool concept art and behind the scenes stuff.

@1objection Thanks for the reply. I meant the size of the box but I guess it's the same like their other releases? I am actually confused between this one or the Arrow Limited Edition. It has things like art cards, thick booklet and double sided poster, more extra features and its cheaper. But when I look at this minimalistic front in black and white I want to get this one. What you suggest bro?

@@Kashif314 Aah, the box is maybe a little bit bigger than the standard movie case, but the outer case feels like a hardback cover does on a book. It sounds like the other collection you mentioned has more stuff, but I personally think this was a great buy because it looks so cool and it has some cool DVD extras that I don't think you can get anywhere else. Also the collector's book has cool stuff like parts of the storyboard, concept art, and a layout of the house and lighthouse. I guess really your deciding factor would be if you like the lighthouse enough to pay more for it than Arrow.

@1objection Thanks bro. Actually I haven't seen it but I kind of know I ll like it. Its available to stream for free on Netflix in my region but I want to see it in native 4k and I am a sucker for collectors editions and this box looks so incredibly sexy.

Of course, can’t wait for that one!

It’s packed very well, better then a lot of places would. It’s very secure.

​@@CrimsonThorns I highly recommend watching some video essays on RU-vid about The Lighthouse. If you look at this movie on the surface only, you will without a doubt be bored. There are a million hidden meanings/possible explanations on what is going on in this film ie. It's quite possible that Robert Pattinson is in purgatory for his murder, and that is what we are witnessing. His entry into hell for what he did, not just 2 workers on a trip. Also, things only start going south the moment Pattinson has his first drink of alcohol. Is it really happening? Or is it all a drunken stupor? It appears that Dafoe gaslights him, is he really gaslighting, or quite possibly telling the truth? Another theory is that Pattison dies when he falls while painting. But mostly, there are heavy influences taken from Greek mythology that tie in well to this movie. It's worth the effort before a rewatch. It made me appreciate it 1000x more. :)

@@55schfiftyfive55 - thx...i will try again on a day that will be opitimal: like a cold misty cloudy day. There is a 2018 Gerard Butler film "The Vanishing," which i totally enjoyed, and which also is set at a lighthouse. Good dark drama story. But yes, i will give The Lighthouse another watch. You do make some interesting points to consider.

Detail, contrast, black levels, black crush, Adam literally told you what to look for. “Details in the beards” 🙄

There are many many A+ B&W films. Lol. Even modern ones.

I actually loved Logan noir way better than the original on 4K. So much I’ve been really looking forward to picking this one up.
