I loved when Percy jumped off the arch. I mean he plummets to his death and puts his life in Poseidon's hands. Do you know how easy it could have been if Poseidon wasn't watching Percy at that time, and was busy. A few minutes late and Percy would be a pancake. A freaking BLUE pancake!

This video makes me so sad. I'm watching a booktalk about Percy Jackson The Lightning Thief when he was twelve and now Percy is actually 18 years old in the Trials of Apollo and he's not even the main character anymore. I want to cry.

I loved the scene where Percy, Annabeth, and Grover are in the zoo truck on the way to LA, because it feels like not only the first moment where Percy and Annabeth really connect, but the first moment when Percy begins to really settle into this new world-truly opening up that this is going to be his life now, and that having friends and allies are going to be a part of his life, and he starts to really embrace his place in the greek world.

Did anyone else have a rick riordan book right next to them cause they just stopped in the middle of it to watch youtube?

I love this Dam book. It was so interesting and the writing is so amazing and the level of Sassyness is just crazy.

It was really refreshing to watch someone's reaction to reading the book for the first time especially because I've read the lightning thief a gazillion time between now and the very first time, like, 6 years ago. It's so cool because, Percy Jackson has been a strangely huge part of my life. It's like introducing an old friend to one of your new ones. I dunno, anyways, I'm super glad you like this book, Jesse! I actually just read the first book last week too and I love it. There's a lot of parallels between this and Harry Potter, right? That's prob why I love it so much. I watched the movie after I read the book and ugh, the movie completely ruins it. Why can't every book to movie adaptation be as great as Harry Potter or Hunger Games, why?! :-(

Read his books while you're young! I read the series when they first came out and looooved them. Tried rereading them earlier this year and also the Heroes of Olympus series, and boy did I struggle. Most definitely meant for a younger audience and the tween dialogue was difficult for me. Still, great series!

I love this series (COUGH who doesn't COUGH). I gasped when I heard you hadn't read them. Don't worry, in Sea of Monsters, Grover ups his game and the books only get better. By the way, Ares is pronounced Air-eez (very simplified phonetics).

The Percy Jackson series got me through some rough times in my childhood and given that I have re-read the first 5 books over 10 times, its safe to say it is one of my all time favourite book series out there.

I just found The Lightning Thief musical and it is brilliant. The soundtrack is amazing and really has that "Percy Jackson" vibe. It's silly and goofy and full of adventure and sass, but it also features kids trying to figure out who they are aside from their godly parents. Highly recommend!

And if I were them I WOULDNT HAVE EVEN GONE ON THE DANG ARCH! I mean really? You're running from monsters and you decide to make it easy on them, like, what? Why? Annabeth your mother is the Goddess of WISDOM, what is your excuse? Same with Medusa's lair, I just kept thinking "She's dumb for a daughter of Athena." I'm so glad to see a new review from you! I've only read the first 2 PJO books, so I'm right there with you being a newbie to the series. Haha #not. Yeah it didn't make a lot of sense to me that they pinned everything on Percy either. I didn't really love Lightning Thief as much as I thought I would based on all the hype, but that's my fault for waiting so long to read it. But the second book was MUCH more enjoyable to me and I hope to finish the rest of the series soon!

Also in my opinion, Heroes of Olympus, the second series, is so much better than the first series. I wonder how'll you'll feel about it.
