Not sure what's so interesting about looking into others bags, but it is 😂 Soon going on a 5 week trip, but no camping so my pack is mostly cams, electronics and underwear. Nice to see you again.
@@adventurespec haha indeed. Executive adventuring :) But we like to mingle with the locals and get the culture on small pensions. A few nights camping would be nice, but hauling that extra luggage for a few nights was democratically downvoted.
I think you've gotta have a USB socket, the Adv Spec fairing gives you a slot for one, and a master switch, so no battery drain issues. Charging phones, drone, batteries, banks, as you go just means no power anxiety at the end of the day. Defo recommend you use a sleeping bag liner, I have the S2S Reactor, it adds warmth, but just means less need to clean your expensive down sleeping bag - which as you say is a pain in the butt! I've been mountaineering/wildcamping on foot for years, and a full career in the army, but I still love to watch these videos because you will always learn something, and when I'm in the office at 4am editing photos it's something interesting to have on in the background - so thanks a bunch Greg, another great video. Look forward to the next one - regards, Mike
First rule of traveling, never drink anything but bottled water and no ice...saves the 'sh-arts' :) Sunglasses... MSA 'Arctic Gold'(mine safety glasses from the Southern Hemisphere, great for helmets, stay on your nose even upside down, very flexible and with take a bullet...no goggles/visor down needed). Camp chair as a luxury! Oh...security, very important... as a truck driver, if someone can break a tank cap just below your head and pump 200litre of diesel, like what happened to my mate in Cambs 2 nights ago, a bike can be quietly pushed away, and you'd never know once in a deep sleep state! Ever consider Bart Factory sealed rims and going tubeless? Informative video...thanks!
Just on route back from a road trip to the Balearics. Had a great trip but next is off road in spring next year. Time for me to get busy. Thanks for such a useful video
Hi Greg, I took my Baltic Insulated Jacket and a few more "winter gear" to the North Cape and I don't used it at all. So one of my Enduristan Blizzard L bags was completely unused 🤨 Why, well it was up to 31°C daytime and mainly 12-21°C nighttime so there was no need. I ride with a similar setup of Merino socks and baselayer and a dedicated bag for my dry/wet camping gear. Enjoy the summer, Bernd 💙💛🏁🤛🏼
I have always brought too much stuff even though I know I don't need it. This is a good video to show what ya really need. It's a similar setup to the light weight backpackers 👍
@@adventurespec yes and it translates well into the biking world. They do advise using an air pump or pump sack to inflate your sleeping pad. The moisture from your breath can lower the insulation R value and can cause the pad to get mouldy inside apparently!😬
I use a 4mx4m dd hammocks tarp, trekology ul80 sleeping matt that's quarter of the size of your matt and its nearly 5 inches thick when inflated and about 6 foot 5 inches long ,telescopic tarp pole , 2mx2m ground sheet tarp and trekology pillow and my trusty berghaus compression sleeping bag, 12 ali lite weight ground pegs and tent lines , thats it and super lite weight for sleep arrangements .. I use enduristan monsoon 3 bags and a little sandstorm 4x 3.5l enduristan tank bag . Micro fiber xl towel ,flip flops ,shorts, couple pairs of pants and socks ,couple t shirts spare gloves and my iniu 20000 mah powerbank as my bike don't have a battery, washing stuff ,titanium camp mug and titanium cooker and headlamp and spare front HD innertube some tools tyre levers and some gearbox oil ,puncture kit 5-7 days away ..
I enjoyed the video, thanks Greg. It's useful to compare what I take to what others take. Over the years I've downsized so much, but it's good to find little nuggets like separating the tent parts, which I've now been doing for a year or so, after seeing on either your or someone's video. Looking forward to seeing the Linesman Troos. It's the last bit of the puzzle for me. I'm sure they'll be worth the wait.
Someone told me it’s good to unpack everything post trip and sort things into piles of used daily, used occasionally or not used. You then sort through the used occasionally and decide if your quality of trip would be reduced by not taking it next time. The unused pile needs sorting into stuff you didn’t use because the need didn’t arise but still need to take just in case - 1st aid kits, tools, waterproofs etc and stuff you took just in case such as a massive box of condoms and baby oil for when you get stranded with a female beach volleyball team - next time you leave this behind or reduce the quantity. Your minimalist approach means you’re probably beyond this but it’s a useful process.
I've kind of done this over the years. The more you do it the better you get. I still treat every trip as a new opportunity to try different setups out though. :-)
Too quick on that coiled yellow strap… what was that, for a tow? Love this vid, really helped with the tool kit. That ratchet adapter for the tire tool. Never seen that. Ordering one tonight. Excellent.
in relation to security, I get it, the chains way half a ton. However Due to where I live, I am required to keep the bike chained up when parked up, so have to haul a big ass chain everywhere. Cause if its stolen, I get nothing if its not chained up.
Great video Greg, there is something about seeing how and what people pack for trips. It’s surprising how little you can get away with if you try. Can I ask what the trainers were? I’ve got an old pair or Merrels like that but need some new ones 👍🏻
Excellent video, very thorough and informative ! Since you know your way around cameras and bring a lot of gear with you I would like to ask your opinion on the matter if you don’t mind I also would like to bring my camera with me (it’s a hybrid camera : Fuji xt-20) but am worried about the harm the vibrations or the shock after a fall might do to it. I think I have read somewhere that vibrations are damaging the cameras, hence why quadlock sells a device so you don’t ruin the camera on your phone. Wouldn’t putting the camera in a bag on the bike be taking the same risks ? I ride a 701 husky so a tank bag is out of order since the key is at the front so I’m considering putting it in my backpack but fear that I might fall on it. Do you have think having a hard case would be enough for it? Is there something that I am missing ? What would you recommend ? 😊
Thanks for this! We use different bags for different terrains, extreme off roading for example a small Pelican case works well, but really it's whatever works for you with some trial and error involved!
Great Video Greg Thank you What was the weight all up on your EXC 450( bags and Stuff in your bags ) Come to Aussie land and do an adventure ride maybe Western Australia 😅
Great video. I am heading out on a 900 mile trip on my 500 EXC-F. Question for you: did you change your oil halfway through or just roll over the service interval? I am debating bringing a Litre of oil. what did you do? thanks!
Thanks! You can find out more about Greg's KTM 450 here - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-K3dVqFw_QxM.html - in short, ride for 30hrs or about 2-3000 miles for every service.
Great vid Greg. Interesting how light you can go really. Also interesting seeing your doing big miles on a 450 what gearing do you run? Bumped into you a ABR riding down though the festival site. On loud ktm 950 adventure Loving your vids!
Hi I'm so interested in how your body feels after everyday's riding. It's a question about how you went? People just don't go into it. I'm riding road ATM and have a CRF 300 ready to go. I'm a bit older than you😀 but there's all theses gear reviews but not " how did you go". RU-vid seems to focus on the fluff. Particularly the van life people but not really an extreme adventure. Back, legs, arse tail bone general muscular performance. Ha thanks cheers happy riding.
Hallo Greg, I took note that you had the GL Coyote on a KTM 690. Here you have been traveling with Kriega Both timex your assumption was confined. Can you share some pros and cons? I got infected by your and some other TET-Trips to upgrade my WR250R. Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences.
Hi there, we carry most of the the same kit to be fair, however what is the headlamp you’ve put on the bike ? Love KTMs, hate the headlamps. That completely changed the look of the bike. It looks great and I’m guessing extra powerful. Cheers
My luxuries are a larger (Big Agnes deluxe) sleeping mat and fresh coffee with the Primus cafetiere attachment for my cooking pot. Thinking about it those two things are totally at odds with each other. :-/
Hello, I've found the socks from Bridgedale that you are using, "Bridgedale Ski Midweight". Do you wear them even during the summer or it's not possible at all because they are too warm? Each time I'm searching for socks in "merinos" it's always for skiing etc... I mean for winter time activities :/
Well regarding your lock, I can tell 2 events. In 2015 my friend was on a trip with his 1200gs. He got his bike stolen in a campground in Poland while his bike was parked just 2 feets from his tent. He eared nothing. He wape up the next morning and no more bikes. Recently 2 of my friends on a 3 monthas trip in europe, scandinavia had their 2 bikes stolen in the secaure parking of an hotel in Dublin. Luckaly for them they had apple air tag on their bikes and they were able to retrace them and then call the police. So I don't think carrying a lock and a cable/chain is a surplus weight. I think it may save your bike and your trip.
Okay I have to ask. You guys are not wearing anything underneath the core shorts right? I got two but I can't wear only that. There in no "pouch" in the front to keep the "manly gear" in place. And pulling the shorts higher up to "sinch the gear in place" is really uncomfortable... Am I the only one with that problem?
@@adventurespec Haha maybe I'm just picky about my boxer shorts. It's a shame though because I love the core shirts and long leg. I use them for everything: motorcycling, backpacking, climbing, snowboarding, mtb, etc. I look forward to the release of the Supershirt!
Hi Gregg,I'm struggling to find similar trainers. What make are they? On line the only compact ones I can find are on Alien Express so I'm not going down that route.
@@adventurespec Thanks Gregg. We are doing the Pyrenees loop in September but in a figure of 8 through Andorra. I noticed on your pr7 you used a strap over the seat to keep the OS12s from hanging down, was it a particular Kriega strap? I use a green bungee looped around the folded down top fastener when they are closed.
On ALL your video's the sudden NOISY interruptions with fill in photographs or other parts are REALLY annoying and HURT my ears. PLEASE edit and normalize BEFORE posting. Otherwise great content, thanks.
