Fun fact: Originally Nala's reason to leave the pride lands and hunt in the Jungle wasn't just to hunt for food. In a deleted scene we find out that Scar was down bad for her and wanted to force her into becoming his queen. Just to remind y'all: Simba and Nala were born roughly around the same time.

Sarabi is honestly my favorite in this movie. The pain she must feel of losing Mufasa and thinking she lost her son, both at once, and she was still the Queen to the rest of the pride. She's probably a big reason why the lions survived for as long as they did. She's my spirit animal, a true Queen!

Scar was the second board. Which basically means that he had really no power. Scars given name is taka, and if I recall correctly, it translates to the word trash. So literally scar and mufasa's parents, named scar trash because he was the second born. Talking about starting off on the wrong foot.

Some African cultures actually name kids like that to protect them, because they believe evil spirits will leave them alone. So naming Scar "Taka" was basically saying, "you don't want trash, do you? Go find something you'll like better." Lions with black manes also aren't considered as attractive IRL, meaning Scar was less likely than Mufasa to find a mate. So with that context, their parents were actually trying to give their weaker, less attractive son a better shot at life by driving away bad luck to give him an edge when everything else was stacked against him.

@@LordNapking You're right, I got it mixed. There is a downside to darker manes, though, and that's higher body heat, which can cause stress and shorten their lifespan. Scar is shown to be physically smaller and weaker than Mufasa, so that could be a combination of genetics and not getting as much nutrition as the stronger sibling. Meaning, he may be the more handsome of the pair by lion standards, but it's still a drawback when Mufasa can easily kick his ass and assert dominance, hence why Scar never fights him head-on and resorts to subtler tactics. And if he was a smaller cub, it still makes sense to give him an edge by naming him Taka. Beauty only goes so far, after all.

Fun Fact: African wildebeest, when fully grown, can weigh in excess of 500 pounds. In the movie "The Lion King", Mufasa gets trampled by an entire herd of them, so realistically, Simba wouldn't be able to visit his dad's corpse. He'd be able to visit a stain on the ground.

Actually Simba's diet of insects probably made him stronger than other lions since insects are 80% protein compared to gazelles or antelopes or other lion food. Also since Simba needs more calories he would have eaten a ton of bugs so he would have way more protein which is why he is stronger than Scar in the end and killed him without combat skill.

Keep in mind they are inferior protein. Simba is stronger than Scar because Scar is a weak lion. He looks skinny and malnourished even at the start. Scar is also old while Simba is a young lion in the prime of his life.

A better explanation is that Simba is younger and Scar is old and probably not eating good because of how he destroyed the circle of life and the food became worse quality because of his actions, or maybe he became lazy and lost his muscles.

If you look in the lore of the lion king, that prince was named Kopa i think. Read somewhere he was murdered by Zira and Simba had another kid named Kiara ( the lion king two) and in the spin off the lion guard ( that was after kiara was born but before the events that happened throughout the movie of TLK 2 ) Simba had another son and his name is Kion

Plot holes be darned, I still love the Lion King. When it came out the Daycare I went took us to theater to see it. It was great back in those days. We pulled up to the theater in 2 hatchback station wagons packed with kids like they were clown cars. We all cried when Mufasa died.
