Ian Curtis seems to be an insightful individual. The impact he has left behind made an eternal mark on anyone who could be familiar with him.

Ian was such a misunderstood person, but it is through his lyrics that we can barely get what was going on in his mind.

Good informative video. A band of teens together only for 3 years and only released only 2 albums (unknown pleasures and closer) could still be such an influence of rock music 40 years later and have songs covered by multiple artists Rip Ian

well done, very interesting research! I'm a massive Joy Division collector & they are my number 1 band & have saved me through troubling times i had to endure. No other bands music have given me the feeling of being saved from constant pain & a place that gives me freedom of chronic anxiety. I owe the band a lot of gratitude. Weird that i share the same love for the same literature except Burroughs whom depicts peadophilia in 'naked lunch' which has graphic rape & hanging of pubescent boys which was so degenerate, that the german edition didn't translate but left it in ,in original language. A pity,Ian didn't find bukowsksy, one of the best writer of the past millenia.

I remember thinking at the time of release of Unknown Pleasures that they had taken the imaginary environments of Philip K Dick, JG Ballard and other new wave SF books and made a soundscape. Texture and lighting were key inspirations.

I love the writings of William Burroughs but I hate the way he always has characters hanging themselves. I think this may have influenced Ian in a negative way. JOHNNY 23 is a short story collection by Burroughs and Ian wrote a poem with the same name. One book which I love is ENVIRONMENTS AND HAPPENINGS by Adrian Henri and it really shocked me that Ian had this inspiring and interesting Performance Art book in his collection. If Ian had lived he could have also been an actor or a director. He did acting workshops at school. Ian's writings are very vague because he was a young writer striving for his own voice and visions. He could have became a great British novel writer in his 20's never mind his 40's or 50's. His writings have depth.

I made the mistake of going to watch him live, I think everyone who’s watched him knows what I’m talking about and he was not even attempting to show any effort and every time I’ve watched him live since he did the same, half the shows he barely managed to speed read the songs… Now having said that I also remember the very moment I heard New York 1989 and Rock and Roll Animal 1972 so fair play for the best of his albums but boy did he drop some dreadful stuff 😂 Rest Well Lou baby.. 🎵🙏 I hope he’s found peace and life without air to breathe finally discovered who made the trees who made the sky and the rest of the questions from Tripatinas Speech Who Am I? An all around athlete of art. I think episodic severity would make it seem like death is the answer. No, guilty pleasure needs to end. He was most likely transgressive and acting like it was a breakthru. A breakthru is honing an art and not taking dares and playing with noteriety. I guess a 23 year old would not be able to understand that.

It is an old English past participle form, which is why it’s used in America while the UK has for the most dropped it. But it’s not incorrect in the UK, it’s just fallen into desuse. Both forms at the end of the day are correct though. Former English teacher here.
