My reaction to and thoughts on the first official trailer for the upcoming
live-action Disney remake, The Little Mermaid.

Ok, so here is my thing about people talking about the film being too muted and not saturated enough. Generally asking, when was the last time you watched the 89 film? If it has been a while, you might want to give it a try again. 95% of the underwater scenes in the film are very muted and "dark". There are no bright colors, except in Under the Sea. They are always a dark blue, grey, black and sometimes green. People are "remembering" the animated film in a way it NEVER was.

I'm so excited about this movie. I think what helps with the animals is that they're actually talking. I personally like Seb. He's kinda cute with his beady little eyes. Lol. I've heard her sisters are gonna have more screen time. They are in the trailer as well. Apparently, each sister represents a different sea.

I don't get why people are so obsessed with James Cameronesque underwater saturation. If you're gonna make a live action movie, it needs to be live action, not animated. Real life is mundane and muted, not saturated. Even Disney World in Florida has rain and grey clouds. It's more realistic to expect some muting and not some cartoonish depiction of real life underwater empires with merpeople.

I literally think everyone forget they’d the Ocean is darker than a room with the lights out, and also it’s a LIVE ACTION movie too much vibrancy would make it look CARTOONISH. Great reaction.

But that was my problem with Game of Thrones, some scenes were just way too dark. It is a show/movie first.

It’s difficult because they had to squeeze a suggested 2hr and 20min movie into 2 min and 20 seconds. With that kind of time frame, I’m sure we’ll see plenty of darkness and bright color. This movie is the one I’ve personally been waiting for so…I’m ready .😌

Cinderella was made more times than people ever acknowledge. Mulan actually has a Chinese live action more closely linked to the actual story of Mulan that doesn't suck like the Disney live action. Beauty and the Beast also has tons of retellings only a few years apart. I don't know why people get hung up in things being remade/re-imagined.

There are certainly a few good live-action remakes. I don't have problems with the concept of remaking or re-imagining. My problem is that Disney keeps pumping out mediocre remakes, seemingly just to make a quick buck. They've made almost 20 in the past 10 years, and maybe 2 or 3 of them have actually been good. Of course, I hope this is one of the good remakes.

@@GopherCakeStuff lol I actually agree with you, and I hope my little reaction didn't come off as me saying I feel like I'm being robbed or that I'm being forced to watch these. I was just watching a trailer, and sharing my immediate reaction. It didn't do much for me. I'll of course still watch it, cause no one knows how good or bad a movie is until they actually see it. But, from just watching the trailer, it appears to me like another middling Disney remake. Of course, I hope it's more than that.
