THE LITTLE MERMAID: Disney's worst remake yet? 

This was the first commentary I've seen on this movie that wasn't completely centered on Ariel's race, cheers to that! 👏

That Jungle book 2016 that put on worst Disney remakes starting to not looked too bad in comparison those recent Disney remakes

There were some things I liked. Halle Bailey was amazing! The musical numbers were very well done. The under water sequences were great. Once we got out of the water, the romance didn’t work as well for me. Great review 👍

Great review of a terrible movie. I just wish Disney would just stop with these live action remakes. I mean as soon as the line came live action remake came out I just had enough of this. I mean that movie came out during our lifetime so why do a live action remake of it? Pete's dragon was great I liked it and it made sense because the original came out like 50 or 60 years ago or something. I like the jungle book because honestly the original animated film was pretty nonsensical didn't make much sense and the live action one had a more interesting story. But hearing that the live action The Lion King is basically the same exact movie as the animated one instead of trying something completely different, I mean what's the point of watching the remake when the original is right there and so much better No matter when it will have aged better. It's like Disney just isn't trying anymore.

Good thing I boycotted this remake last year. I'm tired of people bashing and roasting the 1989 Little Mermaid as a bad movie because "Ariel is a badly written and unlikable damsel in distress". The story in the original was great because it was a love story with high stakes and obsticals Ariel endures throughout her journey, making the story instantly memorble. Ariel is my favorite character because unlike princesses (including the first 3 classic Disney Princesses) who are passive and do nothing but smile, look pretty, and wait to be rescued, Ariel broke the damsel in distress trope thanks to how active she was (saving Flounder from a shark, killing Ursula's eels in the climax, and saving Prince Eric). I never expected Ariel to have an active edge (even if it was based on me getting hooked into her from the first Kingdom Hearts video game when she was a badass party member). She's just as interesting as she is lovable, relatable, and adorable, her looks and voice are the icing on the cake, and she paved the way for more badass and active female leads in Disney films from Belle in Beauty and the Beast to Mulan herself. And of course the soundtrack is instantly enjoyable from start to finish. So, there's more to this movie than just looking pretty and sounding pretty. It started an amazing era called the Disney Renesance (1989-1999) and I'm so relieved that The Little Mermaid 1989 got preserved into the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress while the 2023 live action remake was a commercial and critical disapointment. I guess you can say that while The Little Mermaid 1989 got preserved into the National Film Registry, The Little Mermaid 2023 ended up in.....DAVEY JONES LOCKER!

This movie was good, y’all just mad she’s not a porcelain white red head. Like let’s bffr. The only downfall of this movie was scuttle.
