@Mae_Edits no ones is saying it needed to be complicated and glittery??? The make up is just badly applied, also the original cartoon was way more extravagant. I mean she should have had drag like make up given the fact the original Ursula is literally based off a drag queen

I’m glad I’m not the only one that noticed how uneven the eyebrows were. My god if I had done that I’d have to erase and start all over again!!! Her face just looks lop sided with them 😢
@@SilverCoffee_16 As Ursula would say, innit? Lol. The look is actually pretty simple with the exception of the brows being glued down. My biggest issue are the brows…. Those aren’t even cousins.
@@SilverCoffee_16Makeup isn't easy no. It should be easy, however to a group of highly paid makeup artists for a movie with a huge budget. No excuses.
I LOVED her as Ursula. She and Halle both nailed it. I went in with low expectations after seeing some of the reviews, but I think it’s my favorite live action so far
@@alyssabear8991 show me a reference from either movie or book that confirms this. Ursulas look was literally inspired by a Drag Queen called Divine, known for her signature shadow/eyebrows, they were always even lol.
FOR PEOPLE ASKING ABOUT THE MAKEUP- this is an out lay for c.g.i purposes the colors are specific to the camera to apply filters/cgi makeup.....it's a base so that they can tweak it during editing also so that when she moves her face the filter stays attached to her eyes mouth exct.......
Yes it Absolutely was. I was glued to my seat taking it all in. She completely embodied Ursula- the wickedness and scheming...Let's not forget her vocals...She sangggggg that song.. ❤ the Whole movie was phenomenal!@
@@natestroud3299 been watching RPDR since season 1. I was talking about "THE ACTING" when I said she killed it not the make up. She didn't do her make up. The make up artist did that.
Why why why did they do her like that? So you know how many talented drag queens you could hire that would slay the shiiiiii out of the makeup. This is the guy they choose? I didn’t understand what’s happening.
The make up artist said that having her brows not be symmetrical is intentional and he wanted it to look as if she had done it poorly herself, as they are underwater. He also stated that they tried smudging her lips but it was too bad so that’s why they made her brows not fully symmetrical. Edit: I am just saying what the make up artist said if you have a problem take it up with him dammit
This would be obvious to those who understand art . It was obvious it was intentionally done and I actually feel it was great! It’s hard to make a under water smudge make up look . I loved this look tho. It made you see Melissa’s beauty but still gave the original essence
I’d understand that if Ursula wasn’t a sea creature. Her living under water is just like us living in air, she wouldn’t have any issues with it because that’s what her whole life is like.
It's honestly crazy how well Melissa McCarthy portrayed Ursula. She sang incredible especially in Poor Unfortunate Souls, and her looks just top everything off!💜
She is perfect as Ursula. I was sl hyped every time she was in the frame. ❤❤❤ After reading the comments, I cannot unsee the uneven eyebrows, but gotta say I love the simplicity of her make-up. Her acting, her facial expressions made up for everything else. She is truly a beautiful actress and the fact the make-up was "too simple/ too basic" doesn't matter. She was incredible.
I will say in the defense of the makeup all of Ursula’s scenes actually were in really dark places with little light. I think that’s why they were able to pull off the makeup like that. Watched the movie and didn’t notice the makeup but hopefully they did fix it..
Super. Imagine having an octopus for a girl friend, and so many comments about her eyebrows and such. Both Melissa and the makeup artist nailed it. 💙 T.E.N.
Melissa was fabulous! As difficult as it may be for people to buy an actor or actress’ live-action version of a cartoon hero or heroine, I think it’s that much harder for anyone playing the villain. But Melissa nailed it. Wonderful Ursula from the get-go. And it’s clear she had so much fun doing it.
I think it's more fun playing a villain than playing a hero. You can go over the top crazy, and do things that you would never do in real life. I agree that Melissa was wonderful as Ursula. It looked like she was having a blast.
Never doubt Melissa McCarthy will do the work. There was a sketch on SNL where she was this Mae West type character who kept falling down the stairs over and over. I don't know why it was so funny but she made it hilarious.
Melissa was amazing as Ursula! She was definitely as good as the original should while also adding a little bit of her own personality and spin on the character too! 😍
Mellisa has talent unlike any every my fav part of the entire movie was her solo. She is so talented❤❤❤❤. She’s also my new fav actress. I was struggling to find a fav actress and my friends at theatre would make jokes about it and i am so happy that mellisa got casted as her. She ABSOLUTELY ASTONISHING
It looks so much better in the movie trust me I seen it yesterday her makeup isn’t “out there” because her tentacles are literally glowing so it really brings out the tentacles plus she’s mostly in a dark area that’s why her eyeshadow is like a green so that it gives of a glow n the dark feel without it being overkill because of her tentacles
Saw the movie last week. This re-imagining was better than I expected. Everyone was great and Melissa as Ursula.....I need more of this, lol. Great movie!!!!

Melissa is fantastically talented. But you just can’t top Pat Carroll’s voice for Ursula. Why does Disney insist on remaking all their classic animated films as live-action? In every single instance the animated one is far superior.
