Maryam D'abo is so beautiful in this film. There's just something about her that is so unique compared to other Bond girls. She's different from the other Bond girls in that she didn't have to be shown for any kind of sex appeal, instead showing a beautiful innocent woman with her dignity intact. I also think the bond she shares with Bond in this film is very relatable, portraying a more traditional gentleman-lady relationship where there is a genuine sense of love and care for each other.
yes it's a great film. Top 5 Bond's of all time for me. The point I love most about it is that it stands apart from the other films and on it's own two feet. I'd also choose Goldfinger, FYEO, Casino Royale and FRWL as the remaining films in my list.
Maryam D'Abo was so beautiful in this film. Her make-up and hair was perfect for her face. Definitely one of the most beautiful Bond girls ever. That said, I've seen a few clips of her in old interviews and other films. and she didn't look quite as stunning as in The Living Daylights.
Now that's chemistry. There was something about Timothy Dalton and Maryam d'Abo that just clicked. There was that certain it between the fourth 007 actor and his first Bond leading lady that you cannot put your finger on. It is just there. And "The Living Daylights" was the perfect vehicle for those 2 to be brought together as the best Bond/Bond girl couple in the 007 series.
She played a dumb blonde. How was that chemistry? The whole touchy-feely hugging shit made this movie suck! You don't have a Russian general hugging James Bond!
Matt K Sorry mate but that's my fucking opinion. Don't like it? Tough shit! Dalton's movies did not take in very much profit compared to Connery or Moore's Bond. Joe Don Baker was another actor who was a poor choice as a villain!
My brain continues hearing the Viennese waltz. Darn it, if only Timothy were here! Thank you for this scene. TD is the first and only actor to bring Ian Fleming's character "James Bond" to life with emotion and pathos! Daniel Craig thinks that Timothy portayed Bond the worst. Has Craig seen ANYTHING that Timothy Dalton has done? TD once said he "becomes." That's the way to do it! You take off your skin, put on the character's then BECOME. Thank you again for putting up this scene! ~ JTD
Johnno9989 most of all, Timothy Dalton was the first actor to play 007 after in 1985 the AIDS outbreak went public. That is why in „the living daylights“ James Bond is romancing only ONE woman. as a result of that, many critics wrote about Timothy Dalton as the „no-no-seven“. For „license to kill“ , he then again had two girls in his script (Talisa Soto and Carey Lowell).
Dalton's treatment of the girls had not much to do with AIDS. Dalton simply wanted to go back to Fleming's books, where Bond usually has only one girl per book und often falls in love with her. It is Roger Moore who played Bond the wrong way, fucking every bimbo who happened to walk by him.
@@lukasnummer1have you seen You Only Live Twice opening? Connery had a assignment in Asia and paid a hooker in the hotel and got killed. Totally disguising and I do know Bond like beautiful women but getting a prostitute while on duty. If I bring my 18 yrs old son to the movie and having to explain to him about this a public servant pay for sex while on duty is totally disguising. In America prostitute is still illegal except some jurisdiction in Nevada

Went on this wheel today, no Maryam D'Abo to be seen though :(. Hope my wife doesn't notice this comment..... The wheel was cool, impressively old now.
Oh man, you skipped the part when Bond tells Kara she can get the jacket! "Georgi will pay" lol. I love that line. The opera and classical music was a refreshing change for a Bond flick. It was a nice break from the giant, empty stone mansions and cold, artifical hidden evil lairs. Gave the film some personality. Was this turn an effort to add culture and refinement to Bond's character or simply a different setting his assignment placed him in? If it was a conscious effort to cultivate 007, it's fine with me. Much has been made of Dalton's effort to "darken" Bond and bring him back down to the level originally conceived by Fleming. But it all boils down to Dalton being an experienced, professional actor just doing his job the way it was supposed to be done. He wasn't playing Roger Moore. He wasn't playing Sean Connery, he was playing James Bond. I could not imagine Connery sitting through an opera. He would be so bored and distracted he'd probably snap and start smacking the broad around, blowing his cover and demanding to hear everything she knows about Gerogi. I could picture Moore's Bond sitting there quietly with his smirk and his eyebrows rolling around, bluffing his way through the performance. Waiting for his first chance to pounce and seduce the girl and make his way back to the hotel with her. Daniel Craig would take the time to study every face in the audience, determine if there were any potential enemies, ask to be excused to use the bathroom. Go and beat a few people up and stuff them in a coat closet, inadvertently blow Saunders cover and get him killed prematurely, then return just in time for the encore, mumbling a smart one liner to his date as he takes his seat.
On Bond's arrival in the Prater in a horse and carriage the dancers dance to Wein, Weiss und Gesang (Wine Women and Song) waltz by Johann Strauss II. Waldteufel's Skaters Waltz is played on the mechanical organ just before they ride on the ferris wheel.
THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS was "James Bond" the Silver Anniversary in film, 1962-1987. Twenty-five years on the screen. From what I know, there was no fanfare as there has been in the 50th. Thanks Angus! You keep him alive! ¬ JTD
Timothy Dalton = the most underrated James Bond. It’s an absolute shame he never got the chance to complete a trilogy, seeing as his contract ran for 3 films. Sadly, legal disputes between MGM and EON got in the way….
i met. Maryam d abo. julie t wallace and andreas Wisniewski last week at a 🎥 film convention in London i got their autographs they were very nice people xXxX
@@weinhara woah that's cool. I've been to Prater Wien a few times, so was he like a worker there and subsequently placed as an extra or was he just an extra? Edited for typos
