The Living Dead Museum at Monroeville Mall - Night of the Living Dead Cemetery and Mall

My dad owned movie theaters, and drive-ins for 50 years. I'm 56, and I used to have all of the actual posters of day of the dead, and a bunch of horror movie posters from Universal, paramount ect.

This October, my mother and I, for my birthday, are heading to Gettysburg. And now, thanks to THIS video, we're now stopping at the cemetery and museum along the way! It's a straight shot from Cleveland, Ohio!!

I’ve been a BIG fan of the Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead. Day of the Dead was such an underrated film. Hope you have a great time at the Monroeville Mall Jacob!

My mom got her ears pierced at that mall and did all her back to school shopping there too back then. Many of her friends were extras in the movie. Crazy to think how movies used to be much more of a community event ( obviously part of it was due to the lower budget and need of extras to get the swarm of zombies) Edited for clarity

One of my favorite horror movies 🎥

I remember seeing night of living dead in 1968 and a place called the Skyview driving. My roommate went berserk in the parking lot. That’s how frightened she was. You brought back memories. Thank you.

The zombie you asked about in the Romero room was from the opening scene in Day of the Dead. An underrated flick. Chilly Billy's daughter is the lead in it. Also the "chef" from Mr. Roger's is wandering around the mine. He is dispatched in the movie.

Monroeville Mall was my local mall-I remember when George Romero was filming the movie! We Pittsburghers are so proud of George!My Yorkie puppywas born in Monroeville near the mall-she was a DOTD baby!

They closed all our Toys R us didn’t even know one still exsisted 😮 was sad cause great place for Christmas shopping . Unfortunately hard to find good toy store without shopping on internet 😢

If there's one thing I've learned from watching ten-ish years of your videos, it's this... that you have some of the worst luck when it comes to places being closed, things breaking down, things not working properly, or things being out of order when you show up to film...what I appreciate about that is that you're honestly doing a great pubkic service in showing how broken america truly is. For example, The Monroeville mall is in such sad shape. I'm amazed they're even open with so many stores closed down. Reminds me of many of your videos where places people would love to go and do certain things, probably should just skip it because they'll get disappointed. So, thank you for honestly and literally risking it all for the content despite those factors. Because you could easily just scrap it and then no one would be the wiser. Just another thing to appreciate about you 👍🏻👍🏻

I grew up in Pittsburgh, when I was 13 or 14 (2013-2015) my dad showed me the movie and took us to the filming location! We went around October so it made it even creepier going on that road lol

that JC Penney was not where it was originally back in the 70s....it was actually where the movie theatre was... there was an ice skating rink where the food court was...it was actually the place to go in the 70s. Don Sofer was one of the mall owners I believe. Thanks for coming to my hometown.

Zombieland is easily the funniest film I’ve seen in my 50 years in the planet. The effects (both digital and practical), the rules, the casting…it’s gold.

I saw Night of the Living Dead many years ago, it scared me terribly and it still bothers me. 😱

My Mom and I loved collecting S&H green stamps from the grocery store. Then we would take the books of stamps to an S&H green stamps store to redeem items. One thing I remember getting were pretty white dishes and a soup tureen to match.❤

In mid 70s my local library had a film copy of night of the living dead. I checked it out several times and had horror movie nights. Great movie and good old times.

This reminded me of how much Romero inspired a whole genre and helped created so much popular culture indirectly. Without him, we would not have gotten The Last of Us, Resident Evil, 28 Days Later, and The Walking Dead. He helped push the horror we love today.

The Evil Dead was filmed in my hometown of Morristown,TN. We watched when we were in high school at a friend’s house not far from where it was filmed. Scared us half to death!! 😂

Before Night of the Living Dead in 1968, there was the Vincent Price movie "The Last Man on Earth" which in turn was based on Richard Matheson's 1954 novel "I am Legend" where a plague has devastated most of humanity, turning them into blood-thirsty vampire-like creatures that act more like zombies in most cases, though some of them are capable of moving faster, and even can talk and plan intelligently.

It's a bit ironic you found a re-risen shell of Toys R Us. I'd call that a real zombie sighting

The creepiest mall i went to was Greengate Mall right before Christmas 2003 or so. It was going to shut down in the new year. Lots of empty stores, no Christmas decorations, very somber Christmas music playing. I expected zombies or serial killers to come out of hiding!

Day of the Dead is definitely worth a watch, and possibly my favorite of the Romero movies. I'd also recommend Land of the Dead as a satisfying conclusion to the arc of Romero's zombies.

I had the same experience as a kid. I loved scary stuff when I was about 2, then The Nightmare Before Christmas came out when I was 3 and scared the ever loving shit out of me and I avoided all scary stuff for years, going so far as to avoid halloween stuff in stores. Needless to say things have changed and I love horror and all the scary, spooky things now

Not too keen on a tour of an actual cemetery, but you seemed to do a respectful job of such an important location. And while NIGHT and DAWN are American classics, shame that George will forever simply be known as 'Father of the living dead...' and similar titles, especially since he produced so much more. He was a terrific social commentator, excellent editor, artist AND writer. But enjoyed your video. I wouldn't be caught DEAD wearing that hat, but to each his own. And anyone who enjoys and respects George as much as you do, can't be half bad. You are a brother in the Romero family!

Little George Romero fun fact at one point in time while George was still alive he was going to direct a live-action Resident Evil movie but obviously and unfortunately that never happened and there's a documentary about that Resident Evil movie oh yeah and there's a short film called Night Of The Living Bread and it's a parody of George Romero's Night Of The Living Dead
