Impressed by the sound comparison between the Lofree and the Logitech. It blows it out of the water! Thanks for the review, just backed it and I will have it with the tactile switches as well!
This board is looking sick! It’s important to note it uses Kailh switches and is not compatible with Gateron low profile switches since the pins are in different locations
Thanks for your review, we need to update the function about fn+media keys, the final version doesn't need "fn" to trigger media keys!! So you can experience the same as a notebook😉
This is a good idea for MAC users and kind of a deal breaker for me if I need to press the FN key for MAC OS. Can you confirm that if it's not in the final version will there be a SW update for it?
@@albinwu123 Yeah, Repeatedly confirmed from the engineer's! the final mass-produced version does not need to press "fn" to trigger the media functions
Awesome video! Have you happened to take a look at any of Nuphy’s Air series keyboards in the past? I’ve been thinking about getting one lately but this keyboard comes along at a similar price point but a very different design and I’m wondering how the two would compare
I kinda like that the Mac and Windows keys are on the same keycap, it feels kinda intuitive if your following a tutorial for a software and they are on the opposite OS
How easy or difficult is to replace the battery from both perspective (a) installation and (b) availability of the battery? I like the fact that it offers wired (which I am assuming would continue to work even after the battery stops working) but if I had to continue using it in wired mode, i wouldn't have opted for wireless. I am probably among the very few who still think that AA/AAA batteries are more convenient as compared to lithium ion.
3:25 Not all low profile switches will fit due to the positioning of the pins. You really need to use certain types compatible with Kailh POM switches.
I decided to back it. I have a Nuphy Air75 and Air60 (for the backpack) as my keyboards right now. Slightly disappointing that you can't toggle function/media keys, but I think I would prefer to have the function keys as default, as I have various shortcuts on those in my development environment, and I use those way more often than I use media keys to control the music. ie, typing Shift-F6 ends up as Fn-Shift-F6 and suddenly there's a lot more finger gymnastics involved.
@@Lofree Can i have function keys as default on the flow? or is it hard-coded to be media keys? As a software engineer, function keys are used everyday for me.
6:10 I thought you can adjust this in the macs settings. Is the toggle for „use F1, F2 etc. as standard-function keys“ disabled if you have a non-apple keyboard connected?
@@jakenbacon5322 nah you are right - he asked Lo Free and they said you can't change the keyboard settings. They didn't comment on Mac Settings. I know on Windows you can invert the function row so would be surprised there isnt an equivalent for Mac
So... your preference is that every time you want to reload a page, you'd need to press Fn-F5? Or every time you want to close a window you need to hit Alt-Fn-F4? Etc.? I would personally find that a lot more annoying than having to hold down the Fn key and repeatedly tap the volume-up key when I want things to get louder.
If you’re on Mac, customising the keys using Karabiner Elements (free) works with any keyboard. Super handy because I like a mixture of Fn keys and media as the default.
You'd be more impressed by the Linear Ghost switches on the Lofree. They feel much nicer than the stock Phantom Tactile switches on the black keyboard in the video.
I'm trying to find a keyboard which is: full size, uses brown switches and is low profile. I found one years ago and it's hands down the best keyboard in this multiverse. I cannot use anything else since that but they stopped making that keyboard so I'm desperately trying to find similar one but seems nobody is making those. Any ideas?
What kills it is that it isn’t programmable for this price point point. QMK is awesome for getting the keyboard the way you use it and not you adjusting to it.
Pro-tip, never have the mic arm or mic stand attached to the table you’re using to type for a sound test, the frequencies travel through the arm and the sound is garbage.
You should review the Huawei mini keyboard, it's so nice and there isn't much about it on the RU-vid, I'm using it for work and it feels so good, it's not pricy but has a good quality.
The function keys defaulting to F1-F12 instead of the media keys is a huge sell for developers. There’s nothing more annoying than having to press yet another key in your monkeygrip to hit a shortcut.
Those are the 3 most t@dred complaints I’ve ever heard. Dual legends on those 2 keys doesn’t matter, order of the media keys who cares, and F keys are always the first layer.
