They are so helpful it took over a 1000 years to figure out we needed them.

Really?! Hmm, Apostle's creed, Nicene Creed? Chalcedon? The church has always been writing creeds.....

And this is the exact reason Christians need to study creeds. We have been sucked into the postmodern lie of chronological snobbery. The End of History. And live in an era descending into the very paganism the Patristic Creeds rose from.

If all these creeds exist, I will take everyone’s word that they do and they preceded the 1000 years I mentioned, and if creeds are so valuable then why have we created more. Just use the first one.

@@garyjames-ij4fr Well, Nicea, simply clarifies further on Nicea. Different creeds go further on other issues. It's funny, most evangelicals I meet are far more dogmatic on issues that have hardly been a place where people of the past wanted to make a huge deal out of(eschatology), and often willing to compromise on things almost no one had an issue affirming in the past.

NOTHING. WHAT ALL CHURCHES HAVE TO EMBRACE IS THE WORD OF GOD. All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17 ESV) For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. (Ephesians 6:12-13 ESV) In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. (Ephesians 6:16-17 ESV)

Pastor Ventura embrace the Word of God, trust me. I know him personally more than you and I know how he is. He's just talking about some beliefs. And those beliefs are grounded in the Word of God. So, he embrace the Word of God. Just because you talks about embracing some beliefs it doesn't mean that you're not embracing the Word of God. Don't misunderstand the video, please.

Your word salad doesn't demonstrate anything about why creeds shouldn't be used. In fact, it was, in essence, a Creed. A terrible one with little thought applied that would lead many astray. But a Creed nonetheless.

@@juanc.feliciano9507 I know Pastor Ventura as well personally. Used to go to his church for night service when I was at our Non denom church prior going to day service. I ultimately came to disagree with him on baptism, and some stuff on the Covenants. I am a Presbyterian. However, Pastor Rob, and I holding to Westminster, and 1689 agree on infinitely more than people who tell you you do not need creeds. Creeds are good to find where we differ, and agree as well. We agree on most things, praise God. Which is why Pastor V, has switched pulpits with many Presbyterian brothers to preach in. Confessionalism is needed.

THE SECOND LONDON BAPTIST CONFESSION OF FAITH - 1689 Chapter 26, Article 4: The Lord Jesus Christ is the Head of the church, in whom, by the appointment of the Father, (g) all power for the calling, institution, order or government of the church, is invested in a supreme and sovereign manner; neither can the Pope of Rome in any sense be head thereof, but is (h) that antichrist, that man of sin, and son of perdition, that exalteth himself in the church against Christ, and all that is called God; whom the Lord shall destroy with the brightness of his coming. ( g Col 1:18; Mat 28:18-20; Eph 4:11-12; h 2Th 2:2-9) [RBC Auburn Org /wp-content/uploads/2017/12/1689-Confession.pdf 21 of 28]

That shouldn't even be difficult to accept when there's a Pope telling unbelievers they're inherently good.

Genesis 1:26-31 (KJV): And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so. AND GOD SAW EVERY THING THAT HE HAD MADE, AND, BEHOLD, IT WAS VERY GOOD. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
