A great video show casing superb model railways. Sadly it could also become a memoriam for our hobby - there were few few attendees under the age of 50!

There were bigger crowds later on as I filmed early, the age range was more mixed but yes the majority were 50+ especially the money spenders Thanks for watching

@John Murdock I've always thought the same about heritage railways. I wonder if there has ever been some sort of survey to find the number of volunteers in each age group, i.e. under 20, 21 to 30, 30 to 50, 50 to 60 and over 60. I think the results would be very similar to your observations at the exhibition. I, unfortuately would be in the last age group 😁

@@peterrobinson903 , problem is most age groups are working hard just to stay above water - hobby time limited. That’s why the reserved outfits will have to continue to rely on retirees

We got up early today and boldly had another go and were very successful. There by 9.30 and queuing for the 8 and 9 th tickets. Met up with Jenny Kirk and Underground Eric. Explained to Dapol "That as we have 6 of their O Gauge locomotives we are spent up... However at the Rapido stand saw future purchases in the shape of The Titfield train pack and the dear 1500 model.

We got as far as the M40 which was stationary and gave up. Another model show beckoned but the Sat Nav gave up so we enjoyed Boxhill instead.

Been a model railway enthusiast since 1970, sadly it’s just too damn expensive nowadays, I always buy used now. As for the younger generation,well, computers, mobile phones and knife crime seem all the rage… Or am I just an old fart, an analogue bloke in a digital world!

Your video was more enjoyable because it was an unrushed tour of the exhibition and not just layouts. Day one of the event in the capital city and the exhibition was empty

This must have been filmed after 3:30pm as it was rammed all morning and only started to tail off (as with most exhibitions) at about 3pm
