For as much crap as Nicktoons Kai got they actually did play this. Gotta give respect where it's deserved.

This song might not have helped Trunks save his timeline, but damn did it sound good.

Picture a young lad sitting in front of the TV watching DBZ Kai on NICKTOONS. He's seen it all before on Toonami, and aside from a few things, Kai doesn't really feel much different from what he's already seen. "Oh, right Trunks fought Cell here, completely forgot, doesn't he lose? Pfft, guess I'll just-!." Cue "The Lone Warrior"... As someone who'd already seen all of Z up to this point, once this damn song started playing it didn't matter if I knew the outcome of the fight, I was hooting and hollering for Trunks as if I had never heard of Dragon Ball in my life, in a fight that, to me was mostly forgettable. Probably one of the crowning moments of the Kai dub (and one of my favorite DBZ memories), and on Nicktoons, no less. Props to whoever made that decision.

Like Father, Like Son. Both Vegeta and Trunks sing their own theme songs. And that's awesome as hell.

This is legendary! One of the reasons why I still appreciate Kai for what it is and how it was made, and also why I still appreciate and accept the original Japanese soundtracks; even if this wasn't actually in the original Japanese dub, it shows that the Japanese can still pull out some really awesome OST's!

Last night I had a dream and I saw Goku telling me to never give up on my goals and when I woke up today I was crying because of happiness

This theme itself is reflective of Trunks himself and his character progression. In the beginning, the pace of the song started very slow and the percussion was more submissive. It’s reminiscent of Trunks’s despair, angst, and apathy he holds for the world around him. More importantly, he hates himself. For his own inability. But once the percussion and pace pick up after the intro, he finds hope. Bulma has finished the time machine. He takes it, turns the dial back and tries to redo his fate. By the middle, after the androids make short work of him and he learns of a bigger threat caused indirectly by him, he takes off to get as powerful as he can to quell the androids, and possibly clean his mess. This is shown by the second chorus’s guitar string, as it plays very strong, yet humble and hungry; like he still has more to accomplish. Then near the end, after Cell is defeated in the main timeline, Trunks heads back to his timeline to eliminate the androids once and for all. And kill the new Cell. He’s realized something this time around: because he trained with the Z-Warriors, he has so much power; he doesn’t know what to do with it! He was now powerful enough to swat the androids like they were mere bugs! And no androids means an Imperfect-and MUCH weaker Cell-that he wiped just as easily as the androids prior. Trunks is at the end of his quest, across all limits, including even time and space itself. His journey-years of anguish and heartache-was over and done with. In the final chorus, the guitar is now far more wild and confident, almost in a triumphant way. Trunks is celebrating his victory against the world’s evil. No longer would Trunks allow the world to be in danger. He was the Ultimate Z-Warrior.

I remember first hearing this and I was like "why did someone start singing in another language all of a sudden?" Kudos to the american broadcasters who kept the insert song intact!

This song gives me goosebumps when Trunks powers up against Cell in his Perfect Form.

Kusao has a great voice.

See, this is why Kai is superior. I felt nothing during this fight in the original, but this made me realize the tragedy of Trunks' character, and made me care for him to win. CHANGE THE FUTURE!!!!

Imagine this in Super: Goku Black and Zamasu have defused like in the manga. Goku Black betrays Zamasu and has evolved into even more like Goku and now demands a one on one fight from Gonu himself to see who is the superior Son Goku. Meanwhile, Zamasu has lost his immortality and Trunks, with the help from his friends, creates his energy sword and fights Zamasu with this song.

"Say hello to your doom cell!!!"

I wish they could've played this in super, like when he went super saiyan rage and trunks with spirit sword vs merged zamasu.

This is like the collective theme of humanity in 2020

They used this song in Kai at the right moment when Ultra Super Saiyan (Super Saiyan Grade 3) Trunks fought against Perfect Cell.

I wish Eric Vale would sing this song too since he is the main english voice for Trunks.

Also, I think it's a safe bet to say that this arc had the best music out of all of kai

Well, the dubbed version sounds more badass, if you ask me. You can hear the desperation in Trunk's voice in the dub.

This is why trunks’ one of my most favorite Dragonball/DBZ Characters. I love him and his own theme song too as well. 🚫🧢👍🏽💪🏽🤟🏽✌🏽🐐
