@@thymicthymic just get the warmest clothes you find, repair them when they get to like 70-80%, never do stuff in the cold outside unless you have a fire next to you that will last long enough, and stay indoors as much as you can when it’s blizzarding, oh and make a home base sort of thing at the NPC houses and bring only a few tools one or 2 ranged weapons and some food and water when you go on loot runs, stick to that and the only hard parts will be dragging the gear to the next npc building
Except for those Interloper Masochists who want every container to be empty and every day to be a struggle to find just enough calories to not starve overnight and not get eaten by a wolf or frozen by a blizzard.
To all concerned, this is the 860 day interloper- that's why there are not some food items like MRe, some clothes, a rifle etc. Until 770, I was playing without mods, but it was getting boring. A large amount of food is due to the fact that I entered the command for the appearance of bunkers in ML and PV. It is only an element of decoration, I can play by eating only meat and water for hundreds of days, just as I can use one match for 300 days and leave the rest to the magnifying glass. My style of play is that I collect all the items and carry it to one place and eat only meat (not to be confused with real life lol) P.S- in this game I only miss building
I play a similar style, except I don't play with mods and I make Interloper even harder by: 1) never picking up any hacksaw 2) never forging the improvised hatchet 3) never harvesting a single plant 4) using the heavy hammer only 7 times to forge 4 improvised knifes (makes them easier to repair in batches of 4 at the milling machine since reaching a milling machine can be costly due to Timerwolves) and 6 arrowheads (2 more arrowheads can be found in Ash Canyon, and sometimes you find 1 in containers) 5) keep and use only beachcombable and hunting harvested items plus these : magnifying lens, prybar, pots, clothing, matches, stones, coal, lantern, crampons, technical backpack, ballistic vest, elevator handle, polaroids, notes, keys, flares, crow feathers, and 1 noisemaker. I'm at day 175 and have a few thousand kilos of meat stored up along with all the best gear, several hundred coal, 500 sticks, 90 cloth, 20 bear pelts and a ton of other stuff. I did find 1 rifle round on interloper even in the latest version, in a very remote somewhat hard to reach place. Anyone else find it too?

The little fox companion mod is cool. It can catch rabbits and fetch sticks, but I don't use it for anything other than to have a fox friend. I'm a new player and learning to throw rocks is important. So far I'm 100% accurate on wolf charges, but I idk if rock hits scare them on higher levels.
@@mikegamerguy4776 Forget, wolves are just torches and flares, and it's best to kill them for a few days, you have peace. You can also throw the bait on the ground, gut, the problem is that it usually throws the meat out if you press the 3 key. You can mechanically throw it out of your inventory, or carry rabbits from which you have removed the skin and flesh, but not the guts, then they are selected first. When you throw the bait, quickly move away from it and the wolf will go to it, then crouch and shoot it, easy target. Although the easiest way to shoot a wolf charging straight is headshot and kill 99%
@@mikegamerguy4776 I used to do what Lithar talks about with the bait, but since Steadfast Ranger, I've found the bait was so heavily nerfed it's useless now. Wolves and bears just ignore the bait. If they're aware of you, they go for you and don't care about any bait, they go for you. If they're not aware of you yet, they just wander off back to their normal area and again don't care about the bait. Before SR the bait was very OP and made hunting wolves way too easy. I'd love it if Hinterland would find a middle ground on the bait where it at least works, but is not so OP. As for wolf charging, one tip I'll give you is don't wait too long, if the wolf is too close to beginning the struggle sequence, anything short of an instant kill will NOT prevent the wolf struggle. If you shoot earlier, you do have less chance of a headshot instant kill, but, depending on your weapon, a missed shot can still scare it off at least, saving yourself risky and resource wasting wolf struggles. If you're not on Interloper, either of the firearms works well, but for purely defensive shots, I'd recommend the revolver. It's agile enough to get a shot off quickly and in a pinch, you can empty all 6 shots in the same time as it would take to get just ONE from either the rifle or bow. The bang means most missed shots will still scare (assuming you don't wait too long). If you shoot early enough, you'll also have time to squeeze off a 2nd or 3rd shot if you have to. The revolver also shoots from the hip, which has come in handy a few times when I rounded a corner or topped a rise only to come face to face with a silent wolf. The shots from the hip would send the wolf packing when the rifle or bow would have been too slow making them useless for that situation.
You know I remember a long time ago when there was barely enough in this game to survive 50 days, and seeing all of those items shows how long the game has been out.
@Pj Mack I can't tell you the exact version when the feature was added and I know he's using mods, but loot does respawn just like animals for example, just at a very slow rate and partially. You loot a cabin for example and if you were to check the cabin in.. let's say 20 days, there will be SOME loot again. Loot respawn is on easy/custom difficulty.
Yeah, my boy! I always play on Stalker and my home base is in Coastal Highway gas station. I bring all my goodies there from far corners of the map. My whole floor is covered with wolf and bear pelts so I can walk around in socks comfortably. :D PV farmstead is my second base where I dont like to stay long cause the weather is often bad in Pleasant Valley.
I know it defeats the spirit of the game but i am one of those people that advocates for electrocity through the aurora stored in batterie arrays (lets say 20 batteries needed for one array) aboe to power the house etc. And maybe even the ability to find some growing lights and grow carrot seed etc you can find. Nothing that would improve your survival chances massively since it requires a lot of work (gathering ressources) and is than reliant on relatively constant aurora (except with a diesel generator that has a limited fuel supply, except with oil from fish but the consumption is so high thats its a commodity). Idk something about having a lit up house after 5000 hours in the long dark would make me so happy😍 it would also give me an endgame goal to survive
This is cool. It's satisfying my organizing compulsion. But one thing I love about TLD is the struggle. If this was mine I'd be bored. Cool video. Thanks for sharing 👍
Looks very impressive to be honest, I remember The Long Dark since when I was younger. I must buy it someday... Is it still being updated? It looks so different from what I remember of it.
Yes, but I would like the game to develop faster - fortunately, there are mods that can be played on a separate sandbox. As for the original vanilia game, a new region is coming out in December
Dude its so good now. I got it too when it was a young rough game. It's pretty damn polished at this point. Can't wait for it to be finished. Great time
@@Lithar1987 the game won’t develope any faster. Hinterland is a small studio on limited funds. Patience has always been key with this game. They always deliver though.
I feel your pain... It was getting sooo boring to explore the same areas again and again... Then I found out there were mods. And... it helped for a week. Now it's just plain boring again. I've been playing this game for several years already and the fact that the devs still HAVEN'T implemented support for player-made maps is making this game loose it's charm for me.
After 860 days, not a single day where the snow melts? Where the world warms up a bit? No spring, no summer? This game plays on a very disturbing place.
Nothing like working your ass off, outside for days at a time, just to come inside your house and relax with your rewards from hard work, only to get cabin fever.
Wow that is seriously impressive! This is every TLD players dream hah I tend to play a more nomad style because I get bored in 1 place too long, well done xx
In all of these you have shown I am still most baffled on your desire to have a bunch of car batteries on interlooper. Haha fuck walking with all that weight 🤣 good work man
My original base was in mystery lake and I actually started carrying everything there manually, because there were no mods yet, now I had 2800 kg to transfer to the farm so I simply turned off the load capacity of the items for the time of the move
you can keep your game saves on your desktop, besides this game is removed because hinterland deleted all games in december 2022 because the game was changing in the engine
Psh, I’ve got giant spray paint can paths all throughout mystery lake haha beat that. They’re more visible than rocks and I’ve died getting lost way too many times okay okay… I’ve got one paint can path . And it’s not giant it’s pretty spaced out 😅
