The Long Dark: Stalker | Extermination 

Coastal Highway is one of my favorite late game hang-outs, due to the milder weather, beachcombing to maintain something to do (plus keep up dwindling supplies), and of all the spots Lonely mentioned, I usually prefer coastal townsight as it's more central to more locations, though I DO NOT use Quanset due to it being often surrounded by wolves. I use that house up the ridge overlooking the rest of the town, as it's almost always off to the edge of the wolf problems (rare cases a wolf may wander close enough to detect me if I'm carrying the proceeds of a hunt back), but in general, you've got all the benefits of the town, but none of the drawbacks. No other possible base camp location gives you the opportunity to be off to the side of the wolves while still having good storage. About the only drawback is no chance of indoor fires in the event you're running out of water and blizzard locked for an extended period, though such events are rare in coastal. More likely to happen in Bleak Inlet, Blackrock, or Pleasant Valley.
