Lonelywolf here! Thanks for dropping by, and I hope you're enjoying what you find! I'm a down-to-earth content-creator and streamer who focuses on style-driven commentary and on-topic discussion of games for a mature, thoughtful delivery. You'll also find some shenanigans with friends filtered in too!
I'm currently binging on The Long Dark, but you'll also find a smattering of other games too! Some games that are coming up that will likely be featured in great detail are:
Starbase! Cyberpunk 2077 Among Trees Surviving the Aftermath
Who am I?
I'm a sk8er boi who enjoys the outdoors and other great activities like snowboarding, hiking, climbing, and other related things. I'm often shy and a little quiet at first, but if you get to know me I can be THAT friend who doesn't shut up. I also have the best scottish accent hands down and I'll squawk at you because BAGAWWK.
Lonely, not for future cave climbs - for both rope and root climbes, you no longer need to extinquish and pack your light sources while climbing, the game will automatically temporarily holster them, and automatically reequip them upon finishing your cave climb. That means torches stay lit while climbing, without having to monkey around with throwing them and hoping they land in the right spot. It's something that was included in one of the updates during your hiatus from the channel.
"very long. very dark." 😂 are you monetising these vids? i hope you are, because youtube has decided to play me five advertisements on this video alone 🧐 anyways, Awooooo! maybe Tessa' s yawning because of the altitude.
omg i never saw the unicorn cave exit profile before lmao 😂 ... although actually it also kinda looks like your RU-vid badge illustration profile too? the wolf head shape? just facing a different direction... 🤔
I just started story mode for the first time. I made it till you see the wolf eating. I scared him away with a rock then cooked and ate the meat. Then I died of being to cold.
Love Ash Canyon- a gorgeous region. But one that gets me turned around and lost so easily, especially if a blizzard comes in, or fog down in the Bottoms. Other than the TFTFT regions, AC is probably the one I am least familiar with.
AC is bad for that - sudden weather shifts with no warning. In most regions, if a fog or bad storm is coming in, you'll see a progression of worsening weather before the storm/thick fog, so you have time to respond. In Ash Canyon, I've had it go from sunny, calm wind, not a cloud in the sky to raging blizzard in 30 seconds a handful of times. Broken Railroad's the other region you have to watch out for sudden, wild weather shifts.
lol your surprise at the one-shot anticlimax 😂 I wish it was possible to craft a knife or a whittled collectible keepsake or something out of the moose antlers. Missing the olden days when it was still possible to goat climb on top of the beds and work bench in the Hut and huddle away in Timberwolf blizzards just crafting stuff on top of the desk. I have mixed feelings about the new carcass harvesting animation. Makes sense for the hide maybe, but it replays for every batch of meat? It's so... vertigo-ey 😄 I never thought I would feel nostalgic for that little loading hourglass symbol, but I kinda do.
I absolutely love that spot, best moose hunt in the game by a mile lol! I got one up there with a pistol in about 4 seconds, I still use the clip in my end credits 🤣
"one last set of containers" My friendly neighbourhood Waff, there are 2 sets of containers you've not opened up yet. There's a set up the hill overlooking the lake amid the Oaks you must have forgotten about, as you've walked right past it several times. Granted, you were dealing with wolves each time, but still, they are there and you've not gone to them yet. When you were harvesting the acorns, you came so close to those bins too! BTW, before you go leaving tools behind, you might want to check up on what you need to process those acorns, and take a closer look at the burdock you've been mostly ignoring. It's not JUST medicine.
I thought, when he said he'd only had one set left, those were the ones he was referring to. Either way, there were 2 sets left when he said there was just one, meaning he forgot about one.
Good goat path!! Have not seen this before, there’s a pretty good one to skip a decent amount of ash canyon can link the video if you want to try it kinda cheesy tho.
Love the vids they’ve been very helpful. I’m on console & can’t figure out how to update the map, Been all over the internet & can’t find one good tutorial.
Go to a campfire or fireplace and get a piece of charcoal. Go somewhere outside, then equip the charcoal from the tools area in your backpack. Then left click while facing anywhere in the world holding the charcoal. Boom! You'll draw some of the map. It takes a lot of charcoal and lots of drawing to map a region. Vista points make it go quicker.
If you can figure out the bow, it's probably the best weapon in terms of how much you can hunt vs how light it is. It's an effective weapon against every animal, you won't even need to stone rabbits if you have fire hardened arrows. I've one shot a moose with the bow before and taken down dozens of everything else besides bears. Not to mention it's very sustainable even in the late game with beachcombing and retrieving your arrows.
Never treat sprains when you know you're on a slope and are likely to get new sprains- solid strategy, especially if you know you won't need to climb or equip a weapon until you get down to flatter ground. You can only have 4 sprains at one time, You are the goatiest of mountain goats. ;)
This shit is fire I used to always watch your videos when I first started playing and now I’m pretty good at the game and you were a big help thank you so much🙏
good video style, personally never got to grips with guns as a defense mechanism in the long dark and probably never will given that I'm a solid interloper player who sees any amount of loot as too much loot. Planning is definitely important and the necessary skills of being aware of how to evade danger is definitely something everyone needs to learn playing this game regardless of difficulty. I feel like new players get in these traps of single objectives and also not seeing the game as the diverse sandbox that is it.
Love the vids Lonely!! Do have a quick question tho I’m doing my own run right now too do you think it would be a smart idea to do ash canyon first before summiting?
God, I remember watching you around 5 years ago when I was 12 and super into the long dark. I remember the first video was the wolf one because I wanted to stop playing on easy mode but was afraid of them. I remember this series fondly, especially that mic quality here lol. But I got sidetracked and totally forgot about you (Which sounds terrible to say) Despite enjoying your content so much back then. But coming back 5 years later, hearing that mic quality brought back so many memories. Now that I'm 17 and probably a more appropriate age to watch and play this game, I'm glad I will finally be able to finish this series and continue watching you. Despite the watch time lasting so little (Again, sounds bad lol) You played such a big part in that section of my life and I just wanted to thank you for that.
The only 2 things I ever use a rifle for- Moose and Bear. I've killed a Moose with the revolver before, but it was a pure luck nose crit shot while being charged, and having nothing else on me. I've also emptied 24 revolver rounds into the Moose and had it still stomping around below the tree I was up in (Hunting Lodge) and it took forever for it to go awayyyyyyyy...
I too have killed a moose with the revolver, desperation shots while being charged an emptying the magazine on the moose. I got really lucky once and got charged by a bear while I had the revolver in hand once, and managed to 1 shot the bear with it. Pure luck though, don't recommend, I've also had the angry bear merely go on bleed out and still get mauled anyways.
