this update is looking really promising, but I must say i really don't like the cheat death mechanic, it feels wrong for a game such as the long dark, and i think that it takes away from the charm. One way it could make it okay for me it's if this feature was available for pilgrim and vouyager, not stalker and interloper.

You can always not use cheat death. I'm curious how much more difficult it gets.

hope you don't mind me choosing to leave my rant here yeah, I agree completely. a game like this that is DESIGNED around the idea of permadeath should not have a way to cheat death, it just doesn't make sense. the entire idea of surviving is to take risks and plan everything ahead, and when things don't go as planned you have to do everything you've learned to stay alive. if you take away that risk of losing everything, it's not really a survival game anymore. who cares if you die if you can just... choose not to die? I guess they wanted to expand the accessibilty for players who don't like permadeath, but that's the issue: if they don't like to die and lose everything (which is the main point of a survival game), it's just not for them, there is no point in trying to please everyone (also want to mention the problem with the option to cheat death is that you can do it impulsively. since you just died, you probably are feeling a lot of emotions and can cheat death out of frustrastion or fear of letting go)
