I think I have a very good video idea for you guys. You should do a reverse triathlon challenge. Beginning with run and son on… could be Olympic or fast triathlon for the distances. Ready?
Big fan of the mountain/ fell running stuff. Be good to see you have another go at the Paddy Buckley or the Bob Graham. Or their swimrun equivalents Puddle Buckley and Frog Graham
Just a brilliant video. More like this! Come to Scotland! So nice to be reminded that triathlon isn’t just about racing or perfecting this or that/high elbow/shaving two seconds off transition etc but that it trains you to be able to do epic adventures like this. (Who needs swimming anyway) Gorgeous photography. Well done all round. :))
Its great to see how 2 ex pros can do something that makes them just as tired as a good long (much more modest) race or session can make us age groupers feel. Well done guys. Great video.
Probably one of the best GTN vids! Thanks for taking us on this epic journey 💪🏽😎. Some amazing views and the filming on point as usual. How many pop-tarts did Mark end up eating? 🤣
I absolutely love these videos so much. Amazing efforts lads, inspirational. Not sure I'm going to be attempting that any time soon, but I do like the prospect of it at some point haha.
Hi, You know Heather, she done the Swimrun Från Ö till Ö in Sweden 🇸🇪. I think Mark and James could choose between.. 1) Laponia triathlon , one Ironman distance up in Gällivare , the most northern triathlon. You actually got a good chance to win the race. It start at midnight. Magical :) Cold yes, elevation yes. Not as tough as Norseman but tough. 2) Höga Kusten Winter trail . Running in the snow. A lot of elevation. It would be nice to see you here… // Marie-Louise
Check out the Dragon Duathlon. Similar kind of thing with the 3 peaks but slightly different route. It's s coast to coast as well so has another bike either end at the start and finish. Easily the best event I've done.
Great video guys, well done. On the longest day in 1991 we did the National three peaks in the same way. Starting in Sheffield, cycled to Snowdon, ran up and down it. Then Cycled to Scafell pike, ran up and down that. The last stage was cycle to Ben Nevis and finishing at the top of Ben Nevis. A team of 10 completed this in a relay to raise funds for Killingbeck Hospital. Started on morning of 21st June around 560 miles in total. Cycling was with two on the road at any one time and then two running up and down Snowdon and all of doing Ben Nevis. #challengeGTN I’ve got photos if you want 🚴🏽♂️🏃😎
Adventure training helps take the monotony out of training and as part of a team activity is brilliant. A bunch of us from our team went gravel biking in the mountains a couple of months ago and thoroughly enjoyed it - legs absolutely destroyed and was actually good training!
Huge salute and thumbs up to these guys giving us such awesome and lovely contents, kudo to the GTN crews as well definitely. Nearly 16 hours of journey summarized into less than half an hour essential moments! As for recommendation to normal folks I guessed just one mountain at a time in a day is more than good enough while chilling with your friends unless you happened to have a bunch of ultra athletics friends 😅
the views are stunning! The view of Snowdon and the little lakes below gave me the gossebumps. You only missed a swim on those lakes, but tbh better not. I am not british, but the UK has some really beautiful places. What about a trip to some of the highest peaks of the Scottish Highlands?
If you are confident in your mountain climbing skills, might I recommend the Longs peak Triathlon in Boulder. 38 mile ride uphill, 7 mile run up a 14,000' mountain, a rope climb up the face of the mountain and then a run and ride back down. It sounds easy compared to this, but the air is thinner and you would have to learn rock climbing.
Never heard of the dragon duathlon? You’ve missed out the ride from Anglesey to llanberis, and pen y fan to Swansea. Come on guys, go back and finish the job!
Heather was resting up after her all out effort at Man vs Horse while we were filming this, we'd definitely recommend checking it out if you haven't already ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MQ8WyFVW6os.html
Next challenge - be the first to complete a succession of Iron Man distance bike/runs covering the route between Lands End and John O’Groats. Or, as an extension of the Wales 3 Peaks, do the England-Scotland-Wales 3 Peaks trail running and biking
I'm curious what the calorie estimate from your watches was for each section and the total. You could also do a split of the mountain ranges in Scotland. Maybe highest North of the Great Glen (Carn Eige), Highest South of the Great Glen (Ben Nevis) and the highest not in the highlands (Merrick). Swim and bike opportunities that way.
You are correct. Hence the importance of my “highest and most iconic” line at the start 😉
