Sy Smith's voice is brilliant, sensational, and breathtaking. No one can compare with her interpretation for this song "The look of Love", especially at the very beginning. I heard it on PBS in 2011. In 2024, I am still overwhelmed by it.
Me and my brother took our mother to see Chris Botti and Sy Smith at The Mohegan Sun many years ago. Both were cordial after the show was over and they had a meet and greet. I have to find the photos of my mom with Chris Botti and Sy Smith. I was raised to appreciate good music and both put on a really great show.
@@JayJay-ky2qg NOT to mention his other a dozen or so immortal un4gettables (evuhhgreens 's such a blatant, clichesque word) ..several long docs on BB on the forum, i-views. Suggest look em up. Also : JOHNNY MANDEL, a similar cal genius .."The Shadow Of ..." what an era ...COMPARED TO WHAT ...? (by Les McCann ...).
This music transports me to another place, another time. I lose myself listening to it. Priceless. Amazing Chris Botti and Sy Smith. Not forgetting the Soulful Drummer who nailed it. 🧡 Holy Moses💘 Greetings from Singapore 🙏
One of the most beautiful and classy execution of this unforgettable song, in my opinion. Awesome Mrs. Smith, she has a voice like a "pure liquid gold"! Fantastic!
Steven Carter, yes indeed. Another "sweet" song from the incomparable Burt Bacharach and Hal David. Their catalog of songs is unsurpassed and not just because of the quantity, but the quality and vast diversity of them as well. I enjoyed them as a teenager when they first came out and I enjoy them still.
Including all the deserved accolades for Chris, Sy, Billy, bass and strings I can never get sick of this tight, slick and funky version of a Bacharach masterpiece...timeless!
philip cho I too love the entire BB collection and again on his “One Amazing Night” Special you can see how BB enjoys hearing new interpretations of his music. There’s a real confidence in knowing his legacy is secure and appreciation of how others perform your music.
That sweetness in her voice just melts all your troubles away. Smooth, relaxing and upbeat. She really brings out the band's many flavors and colorful notes. This is a gem in a timeless era of the 70s to the 80s
Her look, the song, her voice, the style, the band.... This catapulted me back to my beloved 70's and did it in a way that was smooth and sexy! Billy, you make playing the drums look like it's super fun and sound like Buddy Rich! Killing it man!
Oh my.....what a beautiful song....they turned this classic into a sexy, jazzy and upbeat tune. Love it. Sy is SO GORGEOUS. Love the drummer, guitarist too......pure talent. I saw them in concert twice and it's even better live........
Yep! The guitarist is her cousin, Jazz Guitarist Mark Whitfield. I got put on her cuz of the last CD he just did with his sons. She’s on there and I could have swore it was Deniece Williams! I tracked her down and bought her CDS. Saw her stream a concert from the Blues Alley in DC back in August. SEE THIS WOMAN
I have always enjoyed watching and hearing this drummer! He puts everything into his playing. Not only is his timing impeccable, but he's so rhythmic with his movements. You really FEEL the music!
She has a BILLION DOLLAR VOICE!!! I hope she gets promoted very soon. I could listen to her voice for hours !!!! WOW !! The way she blends her voice and the trumpet player at 5:11 is BRILLIANT !!!!!!
YES! Deadly rhythm section all the way around. Bass and drum and guitar locked in the zone. Exceptional. And the singer and Botti, well, this is one of the best versions of this great tune I've ever heard.
Love this Music- Screaming with Talent all round, the Drummer is Awesome, Same as the Guitarist her cousin, Pianist and Chris Boti - Fabulous Musicians....Thank You
I saw Chris Botti at Deer Valley a few years ago and it was truly one of the best Concerts I've ever been to, and I've been to hundreds of concerts. Consummate musicians, all of them. And Chris is beyond outstanding! So is this gal singing.
Why thank you.. although I'm light times into the celestial cosmos of understanding it's much bigger than you will ever fathom even though you speak from the heart.. continue to build your infinity and eternity for never dies..
So beautifully done!!! I love Chris, and this beautiful young lady reminds me so much of a singer back in the day a very sweet voiced lady by the name of Syreeta Wright ,she was the wife of our wonderful Musical genius Stevie Wonder. 🙏🏼💕
@@sciocezze68 Sy Smith ... love her , check her out on a collaboration with Pete "Coke" and Peter David Escovedo singing " Let's Stay Together"... even more fabulous!!
Very nice arrangement, excellent singing, Mark the guitar magician, modest Chris a gentleman with the perfect pitch and musical sense... and the great Billy Kilson on drums!
Everyone is talking about her beautiful voice everything about that woman is beautiful that afro her hair the perfect earring and that smile, man that a great start for my kind of woman...
Horrid, the ‘stylings’ of the singer completely overwhelmed the sweet soulful lyrics and the orchestration obliterated the mood of the original score. This recording should be banned for hurting my heart not just my ears.
I was visiting Chris Botti' s concert in Moscow in 2013. It was awesome! When I was listening to this song The look of love , I felt excited!! But it was another version! All renditions are wonderful! Thanks a lot, dear Chris! You are a unique talent!!!
I love this version of this song. Sy is magical. Chris is a true talent. The arrangement is awesome. But the drummer is a gift to my eyes! Lol! My kiddos and I love his animation and intensity! L
One of the best performances; Sy's voice just melted all over this song, but for the life of me I don't understand why it wasn't included on the album? I keep this video on repeat! 🔥🔥🔥😍😍
On peut l'écouter 100 fois. Toujours une découverte. Ça monte dans les tours Quelle sensation Quel plaisir Et quel frissons Tu rentre dedans. (Complètement)
Does actually sounds as good as it did the first time I heard it years ago and you can tell that they were having as much fun on stage as the audience was listening to it
I first saw her in Charlotte and she was a delightful addition to an already great show. Can't wait to see them again in Peachtree City, Ga in a couple weeks.
I watch this often! So much energy! I never thought any group could do a better rendition on this song than Dusty Springfield! Truly a standing ovation! Sly Smith and Chris Botti Thank you, and the great Band!
Really impressing performance, first class musicians and amazing voice. Thanx Burt Bacharach for your musical legacy... You are the best "wellbeign music" composer, a genius who touched our souls with your magical chords and melodies.
I generally don't care for Smooth Jazz much but I like Chris Botti's playing. This is a well done funky cover of a Chestnut Pop tune. I like the singer and she comes with some of her own lines when she trades off with Chris which I think is great. Chris has come a long way ! Nice strings arrangement etc. Look forward to hearing more from this lady!
