Terezi: Remem8er is probably one of my favorite S pages. To me, the relationship between Terezi and Vriska is such an integral part to the story as a whole, with every action each of them taking being directly tied to each other. All of the countless Terezi's and Vriska's going through so many tragedies, but this one pair, for this one moment, can take a moment to be together
for me I like how in the afterlife vriska and terezi get together with the ideal version of each other for each other. terezi gets to be with a vriska who actually learned and changed, and vriska gets to be with someone who actually appreciates her change and who truly cares about her and most likely will never hurt her. and therein lies the tragedy of vriska and terezi: it took death and several othr shit to change vriska into a better person. But the retcon lead to a living vriska and terezi with a...less stable relationship. Even at vriska's worst terezi never wanted to kill her, it took her knowing about vriska's plan leading to more deaths (and her beliving vriska went on a murder spree) for her to actually DO IT,and it still fucked her up. Retcon terezi knows killing vriska leads to bad shit (at last from what she has gathered, she lacks all the details of course) so she happily accepts getting to be with vriska here but its clearly not perfect, as her desire to not wanna have problems with vriska lead to her overromanticising their past friendship and ignoring vriska's flaws (which she also did when she killed her). Terezi has a habit of forgetting jsut how bad vriska can be, and this is why its tragic that the only way terezi can be with a vriska who is actually good for her is one who is dead and in turn when she is dead too. Iunno if I'm saying anything that maes sense .3.
My favorite part about terezi: remem8er is this subtle detail We see John on his quest bed waking up... Dead A long time ago scratch said to rose something along the lines of "the probability of you reaching god tier is 50%" Which since he knows how the story goes he knew rose would be god tier Caliborn already fought her ... So god tier still has a consequence.. you still die and part of you dies to become it Some metaphorical self enlightenment shit probably too Also love that the meta narrative and narrative work together in harmony here I don't remember which sprite^2 said but something along the lines of "all that stuff still happened it still means something" so what if it got retconed with magic bullshit all that stuff still happened and the version of the characters we see post retcon is then with that bit of their arc complete Even if they don't quite realize it Also the tiles is probably representative of panels of homestuck I guess? I dunno reality is crumbling around them and shit
I love Remember because of the dual nature it has with the community- everyone loves it. It’s objectively a great page, and very few people dislike it… but the content and how it resolves characters is *very* controversial, to say the least. It’s like this blackrom relationship for the fandom.
The fact that the version of Terezi that killed Vriska gets to reunite with the version of Vriska she killed, the version of Vriska that was right on the cusp of a character pivot to being a straight up 'good guy' but in doing so was fucking up one last time. Is pretty good imo. As for all the other ghosts, it's just a great show that doomed timeline, dead friends in the alpha timeline, retconned timelines, doesn't matter. Everything that happens happens even if it gets undone somehow. Every version of every character keeps existing.
With your comments about Act 5 and Act 6.. I mostly agree. I feel like the two acts should've swapped structures. It's implied that a lot happened in the troll session and it would’ve helped the transition to include them if we were swapping between the trolls and kids. Instead, Act 5 Act 1 feels extremely rushed since it's trying to fit everything inside of it but didn’t even get to get everything, which causes it to be a section I like less than Act 6's strung out Acts. Act 6 Acts 1-5 are explicitly about how nothing happens during the three year gap. It would make sense if Act 6 was just two major Acts. Act 6 Act 1 was the development of Act 6 Acts 1-4, there was Act 6 Intermission 4 as a big intermission, and Act 6 Act 2 reintroduced the Beta Kids as their arrival was imminent and we see soke of the stuff they went through during the intermissions. The Beta kids land about a quarter into the Act Act while the Alpha kids deal eith Trickster mode and being in their planets, then the rest of Act 6 Act 2 is basically Act 6 Act 6 untouched.
