The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
When I heard Aled and his son sing this on Classic FM, tears came to my eyes; now that I see them perform together, even more tears flow because of the beauty of their voices ; the incredible likeness between father and son and their wonderful close bond. Truly moving.
Margaret Ridge - here here! I think that it is agreed. If they do so again. I wouldn't mind joining the pair of them. I can think of a third version of this hymn - which would blend in well with this , very well indeed. The Crimmond version of this, would've also have worked out well for this.
Father and son sing beautifully together...talented vocal chords have been passed along. Loved hearing the trio portion best of all...modern technology is amazing!!! Beautifully performed!
I can’t believe I’m just seeing this. Heart-rendingly beautiful. I love the "trio" portions. "And in my father's heart always, my dwelling-place shall be..."
Wow. Aled Junior there looks like he was carved right off of his father. Lovely that he's also inherited his father's talent as well as looks. Beautiful performance!
Still my favourite! And how I would like to thank both Aled and Lucas for being the first tentative step in my decision to support the Wells Cathedral Chorister Trust.
Thank you RU-vid because I ran across this man, and now he is instantly one of my favorite singers! I've been singing all of my life and some of my family too. Bless them both and I hope to see many videos of Aled, and perhaps one day I will see them in person though I'm in the US!
Cerdd_Wen - not quite but close enough to do a pretty good job with that. The Jones boys really did do the job. With a very big credit to the both of them. Mind you! I can think of a third version of this hymn, that should've gone into it. I wouldn't mind doing it with them. " The Lord's my Shepherd" by the hymn tune of "Crimmond" was the other possibility. Oh yes! And as recently as today (9/12/18) I found the other 23rd Psalm of this in the shape of Stuart Townsend. With the same title as Crimmond but with a very pleasant approach as well.
i just love this Aled and son just lovely to see and hear. you can see the love thay have dad and son . the wink Aled gives his son for a job well done at the end is lovely
Me too. It was a good choir. I remember trying to buy a tape and there wasn't one. My goddaughter was christened there in1983. That service remains one of my happiest memories. Aled's daughter sang on Dr Who about two years ago. She got the part before they knew who her father was.
Je ne m'en lasse pas...quel beau patrimoine musical...en France malheureusement devenu trop rare avec un répertoire tellement médiocre....protégez le c'est un trésor
I wish there were more songs with his son, a natural talent in his own right. He said he's never had any training except to sing in church choir. I had to research to find out what that young boy's name was, and that he's 12. Lucas, your singing just makes this song soar!... makes it so sweet and blessed. Thank you for singing with your father on this piece. Looking forward to hearing more of your voice for sacred and church pieces Lucas.
M Hogan - you're not the Martin Hogan of the St Martin's church in Knowle of Bristol, are you? Because if so. I totally agree with you on that point. 100% x 1000.
There is now a very firm possibility that Martin - it IS you! It's great I had the great grace of agreeing with you. And I still do. I believe that this should be in a BBC Songs of Praise. I won't change the view.
Я уж подумал, какой хороший монтаж Алед в детстве и Алед взрослый поют вместе, а это оказывается отец и сын. Дай Бог, младшему петь так же как отец пел в детстве. Счастья вам и здоровья.
Lucas has a beautiful face and voice . I thought it was the younger Aled .This is so beautiful .....to me its beyond words ! I am so grateful to have seen and heard this . Thankyou .
These are my two favorite renditions of The Lord is my Shepherd. So beautifully sung. So amazing. Thank you so much, I will charish this video as long as it is on RU-vid. Thank you, what a blessing.
Lucas Jones has a soft sound similar to that of Kathe Green, daughter of Californian director John Green. It's something I used to passively envy when I was a boy soprano. This is an amazing masterpiece between Aled Jones and his child. Soli Deo gloria!
Wow! Young Master Jones is the quite a chip of the old block - never knew he had that voice. Aled - he wasn't too bad at all. Proud of punch of him - you are. Then and now.
This is so very lovely!! I have always loved this hymn, have never heard it sung in this tune. It is even more brilliant!! I love the father, son duet!
