There are DEFINITELY other Huntsmen who chose a darker path. Some of them you haven't met yet, some are in the books, but you were pretty dead on in regards to Huntsmen basically being mercenaries. They take on whatever jobs they want, for whatever reason they want. The CCT was shut down in Volume 3 the moment Beacon Tower fell. It's why Oz was so deadset on protecting the tower at all costs. Global communication from now on is at a standstill. The Maiden magic has nothing to do with one's Semblance. A Maiden can possess both the engendering magic and their own Semblance, even using both in tandem. Cinder does this all the time.
I can't wait to see more rogue huntsman in the coming seasons, and Ozpin was right to want to protect them that badly cause divide and conquer has a great success rate. You would think that the maidens would have at least 1 personal guard
Yatsuhachi, Pyrrha, and Team SSSN (Sun) are Mistrali. You also met a few other Mistrali, but mentioning them would be spoilers for now. You also met a few Atlesians and Vacuans, but most of the characters you know are indeed Valean.
Well, Sun himself is from Vacuo, although he's training at Haven in Mistral... I forget if it says for the other members of his team... Mistral seems likely though...

It's so nostalgic watching these again. While I've watched the series many times over, I haven't seen these in a long time. They really do give you some good context for stuff thelats just glossed over/taken as a given if you just see the show.

here we go spoiler free answers part 2 most of this is restating things that have already been said that you seem to have forgotten a little on this filler arc. first yes the vale ccts was destroyed from here on out global communication other than hand delivered messages is impossible and as they will state a lot hand delivered messages are very unreliable communication within cities is easy within kingdoms is possible but difficult now lets do a trip around the world as a lot of characters have already been labelled were there from team sssn pronounced team sun are from haven within mistral but sun himself is from vaquo ruby and yang mention there from patch witch qrow shoes in one of theses episodes and as yang describes a small island off the coast of vale blake as I mentioned in part 1 is from menagerie wiese is from atlas perira is from mistral but not the main city we learn more about were she is from later in the show I don't believe we ever learn where john is from but I believe he is from mistral but I could be wrong nora and ren are from a small settlement in mistral more is learnt later but hints have been being dropped neon and flint both from atlas and team indigo that team sssn fights in season 3 are from vaquo too I don't know where everyone in team cfvy are from but apparently your right and yatsuhashy is from mistal but I only just read that in a comment so winter and iron wood are obviously from atlas too and I think that's about it for the world tour also I didn't realise a lot of what I said in part 1 would be brought up immediately also looking at the comments most of this is already said but there wasn't as much spoiler free stuff I could say just yet
