This week, Gary and Iain are joined by Hannah to review and discuss the 1987 classic, The Lost Boys. Off The Shelf Reviews: / hunterscrow Facebook: / offtheshelfreviews
Fellow UK nutter here, you guy's are the best reviewers on RU-vid. You really spend a lot of time discussing the film instead of just brushing over a lot of the small details. Subscribed!
They should do the Lost Boys as it originally started out before the characters were changed I would like to see the movie with child actors as the vampires using the same dark, gritty, comedic tone like they did in the 1987 movie. And the title should be called Lost Boys, Lost Children or Children of Darkness.
You chaps should also consider reviewing Fright Night (1985), made a couple of years before Lost Boys and sticking to that comedy horror vibe but with some proper scary scenes and another very charismatic lead vampire performance.
Interesting fact. Jason Patrick and Jami Gerts also star in another 80s film called Solorbabies, Right before they were futured in the Lost Boys the next year
I think my favorite scene is when David's beating up Michael close to the end of the movie and just the way that Michael turns around and he has his face then you see what he looks like as a vampire and the whole flying vampire scene was absolutely awesomebecause this whole time you've been seeing the first person flying vampires in this is the first time that you see them actually connect and for me it absolutely paid off
I always like to link movies as much as I can . So on the movies blade Decon Frost he always wanted to be a pure blood and when he fights blade he says to blade "my turn" I like to think that he seen the movie Lost Boys because David says that to Michael
Without The Lost Boys there's no Buffy and there's no Scream, which means no Supernatural and none of the re-birthed slasher films from Halloween H20 on.
been watching your channel all day! whilst I work doing paintings in my shed. Thanks for a great channel. Being from the west country but living near birmingham at the moment, its so nice to hear southern accents! :)
Great review guys, as always.. & I'm not saying you NEED to have Hannah there, you're doing well on your own, but erm... would it kill you to invite her back again? Either Interview with the vampire or 30 days of night maybe.... (plus corset) :)
I was in the 7th grade and my only goal in life was to watch this movie. In my freshman year of high school I was not disappointed. #ButNearDarkIsBetter
This was the first film that Corey Haim and Corey Feldman worked on together. In the book adaptation they try to imply that Michael saw maggots and worms because of the joint he smoked when he first got down to their lair.
The 80s had so many neat little things you could buy.. large watch on the wall as a clock? why the hell not! it's basically a swatch but x20 in size. :)
My young daughters laughed at me when I suggested watching this, coz it’s “old”... but they fkin love it now-Blu-ray, T-shirts, funkos etc...good work the 80s
I just discovered your channel. You guys are great. I loved your Cabin Fever review. Pretty entertaining when you guys don't agree. Keep up the great work!!
PERFECT MOVIE.... the sequels will age more over time Feldman was just a producer and it's not his fault what the studio, sound department, and director did with the second film THE TRIBE. The Thirst finds the franchises place but then SADLY Sony ran out of money to continue their independent direct to DVD release division because they had HUGE plans that might have saved the division it was just too late :( START A PETITION AND WRITE SONY AND START A KICKSTARTER FOR THEM!!!
LOL MY question answered, in March 2017! I love "Near Dark", I'll look for the review here on the You Tube. Your reviews are the best, Iain & Gary, thank you ! ; D
Near Dark is a better vampire movie! I hear this quiet a bit, however, for me The Lost Boys is a superior movie. Movie/Vampire Movie? Don't get me wrong, Near Dark is great but doesn't have the magic that the Lost Boys has.
I'd forgotten about that comment lol. (*blushes with embarrassment) It's no secret, but I tend to normally listen to these reviews on a pleasant journey towards losing consciousness, having somehow discovered that the dulcet tones of the mighty IanGaz whilst talking about my favourite movies successfully unplugs me from the matrix.... but I guess seeing my favourite celluloidal inclined rockerdroids flanked by a Rockfit guest must have caught me by surprise at the time. Honestly though, not only is it officially my first and only shameless Corset inspired comment, but the fact it fits you like a glove Hannah, is likely what made me diverge uncharacteristically from my usual monk like stoicism. Your contribution honestly had more depth than my one tracked brain-comment implied. Please forgive my momentary weakness! & Stay Rockfit in the moshpit! x
More Corsets lads.... you heard the lady... I'm pretty sure no fan will disagree. Let's see..... they've already done Fright night, and near dark already, but there's always FN part 2, "interview with vamp", "Let the Right one in", "Suck", "Byzantium" "Cronos" "Girl walks home alone" "what we do in the shadows" the "Stakeland/s" "Dusk Till Dawn" or the more traditional "nosferatu", hell..... even "30 days of night" is worth another lace number.... not to mention a host of Hammers..... Come on mighty Iian-Gaz.... the god of Corsets, and the ghosts of Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing compel you! *queue evil laugh "mwahahahahahahah" Please though..... no Twilight ;) xxx
@@hannahlarouge6438 That's great, I will be checking for it every Thursday! It's too bad you didn't do Frigggghhht Night also! That and Lost Boys were my favorite movies as a kid!
Hey guys a plot hole to pick bones with. Vampires aren't allowed in your house with our being invited. Star enters the house without asking and so do david and gang at the end battle. How??????
@@angrytheclown801 my theory, he was a hunter, and he met a vamp he fell in love with. Remember, the brother was in the daylight after being turned. The final ritual wasn’t done. Remember, “Don’t drink Grandpa’s wine!”
@@peterversionone Michael wasn't a full vampire either. Michael displays sensitivity to daylight, he also displays lethargy during the day. Both things Grandpa never shows. Now if you want something to help your theory, the official comic; Reign of Frogs, Grandpa does become a vampire. The old lady he mentions? She's a vampire and he's scoping her out to find out if she is to take her out. But she gets him before he gets her. His half vampire to full vampire change happens after the events of the movie though.
@@peterversionone He also wasn't lethargic. He was laughing, joking, he wasn't showing the same behavior Michael does later. Not all fan theories are true man.
"luckily they don't fucking sparkle" is actually a false statement. technically the lost boys' blood sparkles. "we put a lot of shiny liquid in ... the fake blood" is something mr schumacher says in the commentary; and you see as sam and the frog brothers rush back to the car, that the blood stains on their clothing is sparkling, and looks like it might have glitter.
