So sad that Wheeler died in that tragic PrePrePreRelease accident, but the unholy simulacra they made does a REALLY good job emulating them. You can hardly hear the screams of the damned emerging through the cracks in the shell!
@@zachariahhuey9876 I get your being sarcastic but for real though Urza's Saga is both a card that sees a ton of play not just in general but also in Serge's decks so it's kinda funny he still doesn't quite get it.
Actually, Serge constructed an exact 1:1 replica of the moon base at his place in Alberta, and kidnapped wheeler and nelly so he could keep his role as host.
I ADORE the addition of the Dark Ritual mana hand signal to go alongside Ancient Tomb mana's hand motion. I dunno why, but the Ancient Tomb mana thing always gets me to laugh, so I approve of more.
Bloodletter of Aclazotz out here making Foul-Tongue Shriek do twice as much damage has me feeling a certain way. Imagine swinging with three creatures and one black open just to dome them for 6 extra out of nowhere
I was surprised that get lost wasnt part of the set review as a potentially powerful new removal spell in white. It draws a lot of similarities to fateful absence and to me at least looks like it could be better? Absence gives them a guaranteed extra card with the clue whilst the map tokens are a bit more limited in some ways. Sorcery speed means they cant hold it up to do on your end step and if they dont have a creature in play they cant crack the maps at all
I do always love to hear your opinions on the viability of cards in a format that I regretfully have little opportunity to play. I think the analysis often applies to other eternal formats quite well.
One card is like to hear you guys’ opinion on is Altar of the Wretched from the commander set. It’s really hard to evaluate and has a lot of hallmarks of cards that historically haven’t been very good, but I can’t shake the feeling that it might be a bit of a sleeper for some deck
@bwheelermtg yes im tagging you for this cause im OFFENDED that you guys, specifically you, didnt talk about the Blue God. Temur Spells LOVES that card, and its interaction with Adventure cards is hilarious For those who dont know: Ojer Pakpatiq says if you would cast an instant from your hand, it gains rebound. The interaction with Adventure cards (Those being instants {brazen borrower, Twinning Twins, Bonecrusher, etc etc}) is that if you choose to rebound the adventure card instead of putting it into the "On the Adventure" "zone", when you would cast it from exile as it comes off of rebound, you can choose to cast it as either the adventure or the creature, and if you choose the former, it goes on ANOTHER adventure and you get to cast it as a creature still
It's a 4 mana Legendary creature without an ETB that dies to Bolt, and there's not enough good adventures to make a dedicated singleton deck out of it, so I would be surprised if they did that about it. It's a pretty bad card tbh
So hear me out... You got a a random merfolk and Deeproot Pilgrimage in play... and have Clever Conjurer in the yard... you play Agatha's Soul Cauldron, exile Clever Conjurer with the Cauldron, put a counter on the merfolk, giving it the "untap target permanent not named Clever Conjurer" ability. Use said ability of merfolk on itself. INFINITE HEXPROOF MERFOLKS
“201.4b If an ability of an object refers to that object by name, and an object with a different name gains that ability, each instance of the first name in the gained ability that refers to the first object by name should be treated as the second name.” I think this rule would mean the ability the cauldron would gain would be “Untap target permanent not named -CARDNAME HERE-”. Still has potential, if you had 2 merfolk it would work. Kiora’s Follower has “tap: Untap another target permanent” and is a merfolk itself, so it could also do this wiith the soul caldron or really any clone.
@quinnbreit-nicholson454 nah, i tried this in Arena. With Magda, which is has a +1/+1 counter and is not summoning sick, it can target itself to generate infinite treasures. I have been running this in Historic Ranked, trying to find ways to consistently do this coz there is a line where I can use Magda's search ability to put Dragonspark Reactor into play, then do the infinite treasures trick to trigger Dragonspark Reactor's charge counter ability a bunch of times then sac it for lethal when it has enough counters on it.
Just curious. Why no love for Black, Black / white or Vampires? I dunno if its just my deck but I seem to do great against a lot of midrange decks. You guys just talking like TOP TEIR decks? If so, I think I get it. To slow?
There has never been a vampire bat printed before. The only card that is both a bat and a vampire is Screeching Bat, which transforms into Stalking Vampire, and neither side has both creature types.
"Tier 1.5" is just a polite way to say "not Tier 1". Just make it Tier 2 and move everything else down, since there are so many decks at "1.5" they are very much their own category now
Dredge has enough options for big dumb beaters already, Fiend Artisan is way better than Souls of the Lost. Tarrian's Journal might be playable in dredge, for much-needed ramp and the ability to access the from-hand-only creatures that are in the GY. Bitter Triumph has me the most excited for dredge. Frustrating as that is for intuitive deckbuilding, I find the games I win are ones where I have removal in my opening 10 cards that go to my hand before the millfest starts. Something that can hit planeswalkers is very good.
I ran Kutzil's Flanker in my prerelease deck and was able to discover into it, which I then cast and exiled the descend player's entire graveyard. Won the game shortly after that.
Artifact lands, moxen, itself and the token, some random tokens you have or a cheap artifact/creature. While I don’t think it’s free to flip, the floor is high enough that that’s okay, especially if your deck can put it into play multiple times, like with a welder.
