I am an American born and raised from German stock. My maternal grandparents both immigrated from Germany. I have many cousins who fought for Germany and know that several were killed during the war, and one as late as 1947 as a Soviet P.O.W. as the Soviets did not release their German prisoners at the end of the war! Thanks for remembering and caring about my ancestor's relatives. As you stated, they are people with families just as you and I.
Morning from San Antonio Texas . That’s a beautiful place . I would love to go there and camp out and stay there for days . Hopefully within two years I’ll have a chance to go on vacation and hope I can visit that area . Very beautiful .
If my memory doesn't fail me, you was there before but didn't want to go along not to bring your son in danger... Good to see you're back on track and get some history back in the future !
HH this is a great reminder that there is confronting consequences of war for both sides. It is nice to see that they had time to stop, prepare and honour the death of their fellow comrades.
I thought this location looked familiar, with a great view by the lake on the original road. Seeing the original location. Of the German Graves where buried, nice that the stones are still in place. Thank you for all the crazy things you do to share amazing videos history, hunter we appreciate it.
As you were biking down that road, I thought it looked familiar. Just like previously, too dangerous to take Eagle Eyes down it. Was great that you found where the cemetery had been located. Amazing that the pillars surrounding the cemetery from WWII were still there.
Breath taking scenery, but that road did look treacherous. Very dangerous you going there HH. I can see why you didn't take EE with you. I wondered if you wore a helmut. I guess it might help you a bit from the smaller boulders. Handy bike you have. The rainbow was gorgeous. Thank you for soldiering on. Spectacular it was. The German soldiers unknowlingly heading to their slaughter. I hope the German soldiers made it back home to their loved ones and were reburried. We must remember that in war one side is not all good nor is one side all bad. Cried I did. Lest we forget. Thank you HH.💗
those waterfalls absolutely stunning not much change when you compared the picture with the actual background the beauty of that area was awesome the cemetery looks quite different though loved that trip was worth the view alone
That was very different to your usual video's and was very moving. Sometimes it is the minutie of the battle that is so very important, rather than saying who won and who lost. Perfect, thanks HH
Hi HH, I think the arrangement of the signs is special, people are buried according to rank. First a single grave, then three and then two times four graves. It's special that you found the cemetery. They turned out to be very beautiful shots, beautiful surroundings.
That was very interesting and well done on finding this cemetery. When you first started on this adventure, the area definitely looked familiar. Still a very beautiful area. Thanks for going the extra and finding this area. Enjoyed it extremely!!! Stay well, safe and smile. Until then, my friend.......................................
My friend, You are better than the History Channel ever dreamed of being! I enjoy each one of your expeditions. You and EE stay safe on your journeys. Thank you for all you do and tell, this generation is slowing loosing its attachment to the past.
I found that very moving .For the common man or woman there is no winner in War. Largely the combatants are not the creators of conflict. It is their sacrifice that terminates the conflict. I respect the fallen and devotion to their duties at the time. It is so sad that even today we have conflicts everywhere in similar circumstances when the great majority wish simply to get along and enjoy living. Extremists must be curtailed to allow others to be free.
I`m new to your channel. I really enjoyed the videos I watched so far. And this video touched my heart. Every soldier deserves a resting place. Thank you. I will have a marathon watching your videos. A big hug and thanks from Sweden.
Thank you for this one, it is a special place, Amazing how you find such beautiful spots even if it does involve wars. I think it great that they did move the graves though to where they can looked after and be remembered no matter who they are / were. Thanks again.
Lovely that the soldiers were taken care of by the ones who counted, their comrades. Great story. I remembered that road from what you went through the last time. Returning took guts. Thanks for sharing.
The very first video I watched of yours recommended by You Tube 2 years ago - was your expedition to show us this beautiful landscape and where the battle took place. I remember all the things the FiFish found and the artifacts you discovered. This is the value of watching your channel HH Thank You.
What a beautiful last resting place for the soldiers, even though the remains have been removed, it would be nice to think that their souls rest there in eternal peace. As ever thank you team HH for the amazing history lesson.
It is very sobering to walk through the cemeteries of those who lost their lives in war. It reminds us of the stupidity, and utter waste, of it all. Very few would know now, or even care, why those stone posts are standing there today, in that small field, but in finding this forgotten grave site, you have added a more human, and tragic, side to the story, covered in your original video. Thank you for taking the time, and effort, to locate this lost, and forgotten, piece of History, and sharing it with us. Cheers to you, my friend, and to EE. Stay well, and safe.
I just want to say to you History Hunter that this is one of the best videos that I've seen that you made and I've been with your channel for a long time . This also brings a tear to my eyes as well ,these men lay in peace and they were doing what they had to do, these men all got a father a mother probably kids and it all comes down to they were fighting for there lives . There comrade's picked a beautiful spot for these soldiers to rest in peace. Thank you Again History Hunter .
👩🏻💻We hear about the big battles which is good. BUT when hearing about individual soldier's war stories of the conflicts mean more for me. Regardless of what side of the conflict the men suffered for what they thought they should be doing. There is always the rotten bad stuff. It is the personal reflections and pondering and clinging to each other for support and their lives that mean the most to me. I feel humble to hear their testimonies of such a trial and being able to share and understand their sacrifice for me. I enjoy your shows because I get a glimpse of how these men lived on both sides and the heritage you share for all humanity involved in WWII. 🙋♀️😘🥰🇺🇲🇬🇧
What a beautiful area holding so many tragic memories 💔. A vulnerable position to be in. Just imagine the fear and terror. They had no way out. We must always remember they were humans with dreams, family, and loved ones. They bleed, and they felt pain. The road did look very dangerous. Some may not realize that. Be careful, HH. Thank you so much for respecting the German soldiers and what they had to endure and for taking us to their place of rest. May they have found peace. ❤.
Lovely scenery.. again... that little rainbow on the waterfall !! Good that you were able to solve the story behind those old photo's. Thankyou for taking us along again !
So great you went back to this story i remember some years ago you went there ..yep looks even more dangerous now ...very good vid as always. As for finding the grave yard truly sad but ...history like you said many times is everywhere .
Great to see a follow up from your original video. I remember you showing us the boulder in the old picture and finding the exact location. Incredible that you managed to achieve that with the old cemetery as well. Soldiers from WW2 are united by their unique experiences as your pictures show. Incredible work from the HH team.
Well done HH. Like the German troops I understand what it is like to get caught in the open as the opposing force opens fire. The early part of the video the terrain looked familiar, then the large outcrop on the edge of the lake showed. I started to type the question, but you did it correctly by referring to the prior video and the PAK. That there are remains of the cemetery is surprising since the graves have been moved, presume they were reinterred in Germany. That they were caught in the open and only lost 12 of 150 is a miracle in itself. This was a well-done video my friend. Now that the old road was closed, where is the new one? Above or did they tunnel it? Stay safe and well and greetings to the family.
New road is tunnel on the inside and the outside road is a mess to be honest. This is a very stunning place and with such history well worth spending some time there. Thanks so much for your great support :)
Very moving story HH, very well done in your video. Sad that men lost their lives far from home in what would be, in normal times, such a beautiful location. Thanks for taking us along with you and sharing history! Stay safe and stay well!
Yes this place has both fantastic history and scenery and i loved to visit there. Very interesting it is. We thank YOU for your great support so we can go out and fin laces like this. Thanks and be safe out there :)
Absolutely loved this walk through history and immediately recognised that we had seen this area before. This was a totally different perspective and I appreciate all the research you did to find photographic evidence from the 1940's and then show us a comparison with today. The soldiers were probably reburied in their Homeland. Thank you for this very moving episode of a special moment in WW2 history ❤
Good morning from Calgary alberta. We really learned a lot from the channel and we hope you will never stop your findings w eagle eyes. Thank you and God bless
How wonderful that you found this site. I remember your two other videos about the battle and what happened. Also the amazing items you found when metal detecting and using the FiFish. It was a surprise when you ducked for cover when rocks started falling and you found the boot iron. This video brought back memories of the earlier videos. It had to be both amazing and emotional to find the grave site. This is a story that you won’t find on other channels.
Thank you for this particular exploration. A very poignant story, and very interesting. It's very touching indeed to find such a graveyard. All the best to you!
So very touched by this story of humanity. Thank you for taking the time to tell the story of their struggle, the show where they were burried. Yes such a saddening and heart breaking side of war. Again thank you HH for showing us this .
Thank you HH for this adventure and the description of the journey you and these troops took and their untimely demise. You did such a great job, then to see how the Military Cemetery was allowed to decline to what it is today. Is there not a war graves society that could look into it and repair? In any case again thank you now be safe, careful and be healthy.
Yes Ted what a great story and in a way sad to see that the former cemetery is not as it was but that is history for you. Loved to share that with you and thanks for being here with us :)
Simple amazing view of history. I watched it twice and love the views from this video. Hard to imagine a battle taking place in such a beautiful place. Thank you for all you and Eagle do to bring us the WW2 history. Blessings my friend. Mike & Matthew
A very special site, thank you for taking us along, nd for sharing the story of these soliders. I am pleased that the graves were moved, and hopefully are now looked after by people that respect the sacrifice these mean made, for something they believed in. A moving human story amongst the beauitful wild countryside. Stay safe and well mt friend
Where the bodies removed? Or just the marker's? You should check with the German wargraves commission, lots of grave markers were destroyed after the war
What a sad and touching story HH. I can't imagine what they had to endure during that time. I was pleased to see the markers were still there. This was a special adventure. And no truer words were spoken when you said stupid men make war. That's so sad but true and the ending result is death for so many people. They never learn from the past do they? 😢 Take care and stay safe. 💖💯
Were the soldiers' bodies repatriated at the end of the War? Thank you for another fascinating video from this place; I remember the others where you were metal detecting near to that steep drop into the fjord - that was scary for the viewer, let alone you!
They are buried at another location. Yes this is a scary place to be honest but SO well worth it. That is what we do my friend and thanks for your great support :)
SALUTE! Your truly FANTASTIC! The GREATEST ORIGINAL WW2 History channel ever on social media! I Love you, 🦅 👀,and Buster Girl! How is she doing?! I miss her part!
@ww2HistoryHunter at 20:07, on the right hand side of the cemetery, there are two small trees that have been planted near the middle concrete pillar. Do you think that those are the same two trees that stand there today?
