I was JUST ranting about how Tāban (well, I called it a beta Shellder evolution) should've been a split evolution for Shellder and existed also as an independent pokemon! 11:00 Soul basically summarized more-or-less my thoughts. It's crazy to me that you guys are talking about this today! (well, you probably recorded this a while ago, but it's still a crazy coincidence you posted it today haha)

Great video my only complaint is that Plesiosaurs aren't dinosaurs they are a group of prehistoric reptiles that are more related to turtles than to dinosaurs. A lot of prehistoric creatures are mislabled as dinosaurs such Dimetrodon, Mosasaurs, Pterosaurs, and more.

Looking at most of the scrapped Beta Designs, they most likely were repurposed or were the design inspiration for other Pokemon. Hanamogura could have been the inspiration for the Cherrim line. Korosu, the Seal, was most likely repurposed into Popplio. Its final evolution was likely the inspiration for Samurott. Hanei, is a Water/Flying type and most likely an early beta for Mantine. However, looking at its design, i can see it also having inspired Togekiss. Shibirefugu is the evolution of Qwilfish. However, its body shape is similair to gen 3's Whiscash and just like Whicash, it has a marking on its head. Ikari is a Water/Steel shark. It most likely served as inspiration for Sharpedo. Gurotesu is a Water/Steel whale. Most likely served as inspiration for the Wailord line You already mentioned Skitty inspiration for Rinrin. Bomhuskia is another seal, that one most likely turned into Primarina. Looking at Kotara back sprite and its stripes... it likely turned into the Litten line, considering the stripes are similair. Norawaru is a cactus. Most likely turned into either the Cacturne line or Maractus or both. Urufman and its evolution, the wolf like creature, i can see having turned into Snover and Abomasnow.

Mh my two cents about 400 -which is also my favourite 😂- actually I'm pretty convinced it's supposed to be a hystrix, a kind of porcupine, who ultimately inspired Quilava. Also we got a horned frog with toxicroak of course 🐸 401 this is a little farfetched, however we also got some proto names from the gen1 leak. One of these was Stegon, a kaiju from Ultraman who's basically a living dinosaur skeleton. This might be some kind of iteration of it, or it could've just inspired cubone and its lost second stage. 315 is very reminiscent of happiny.

Tāban/Turbann is my favorite beta Pokémon by far. Considering it shows up on Slowpoke, Slowpoke's evolutions, and Slowpoke's regional forms I really hope that eventually it'll because it's own Pokémon. My Second Favorite is Gorochu. I just wanna see it become a real Pokémon so much.🙂 My Third favorite is Tsubomitto. The other evolution to Weepinbell just because it's so different compared to Victreebel.

Ugh! SoulSilverArt is the only one who made research. The other two keep telling bullshits and are annoying, espacially Lumiospot who's opinions aren't really that good either.

I despise leaked alpha/beta pokemon (even just calling them pokemon seems wrong to me). They're not something we were supposed to ever see. Stuff like this getting leaked is just sad and unfortunate as far as I'm concerned. Not just cause the artists and company had no way to say no, but also because it generates a ton of discussions among pkmn fans that are exhausting and frustrating more than anything worthwhile. Also, dr.lava, while finding great stuff to commission translations for, stops being cool the moment they add their own opinions to any of it.
