Tucked away in a corner of the South Mountain Park & Preserve in Phoenix, Arizona is a mysterious remains of a building that no one knows the true purpose of. There's many ideas about who built the "Lost Ranch" and why, and we'll discuss some of them while hiking through a quiet corner of the Park.
TRAIL INFORMATION: The "Lost Ranch Loop" is an informal five mile loop with roughly 1,200 ft. of elevation gain that starts at the Pyramid Trailhead, near the southwestern corner of South Mountain Park. The Park has a lot of intersecting trails, so I'd recommend downloading the AllTrails route beforehand so you can follow along.
If you follow the AllTrails route, you'll hit the Ranch ruins about 1.2 miles in. Hiking to the Ranch is easy; just about anyone who can handle uneven terrain can get there. The full loop should only be attempted by people with a moderate amount of hiking experience-- difficulty-wise, it's comparable to other local trails like Camelback Mountain, Piestewa Peak, or Tom's Thumb.

I have been to the lost ranch many times and I have a different theory. In the 1950s thru the 1970s International Harvester had a test facility that covered a good part of the valley below the Lost Ranch. It covered from what is now Pecos Road to Chandler Blvd. During this time the closest nice hotel for vips to stay would have been the San Marcos in Chandler. I believe this site was built to accommodate the vips and executives who came to visit the test facility. This would explain the relatively modern construction materials and the fancy fireplace. The beehive oven in the back would be a great place for guest to gather on an open air patio… Just a theory. I have no evidence but the timeline and nice amenities support.

That’s a really compelling and persuasive theory! It’s one of the things I love about this site; in the absence of clear-cut evidence, the best we can do is speculate based on the knowledge of what we know was happening in the city around the time it was built. Thank you for sharing, and for watching!

Very neat looking to see the remains of that stone fireplace sitting there in that landscape. Very interesting to hear what the lost ranch might have been.

The Lost Ranch has fascinated me ever since I first stumbled upon it. It’s just so out of place, and we essentially know nothing about it for certain. Thank you for watching!

Hey everybody my name is Riley and today I am on Wilderness Wills channel located on RU-vid. now this should be one of the most popular channels for entertainment and facts. today I'm gonna take you to one of the most quieter videos, so we can investigate a mystery that's been hiding in plain sight for more than a decade. And that mystery is where the fuck is my alimony, I'm owed child support or something. Homie is making money off of RU-vid. Where's my cheddar? -The Forgotten Husband
