It's funny because the Garo tribe of Meghalaya, North East India also follow similar customs. As much as I know, our tribe who are still not Christian yet, believe in unseen God who blesses them. Manasseh or more commonly known as manmasse here in the North East India are a fairly large group of people and it becomes larger if the house of Zo is included. I am a Mizo, and the truth is most of us do not believe that we are the lost tribe of Bnei Manashe of Israel. We have no traditions or rituals that point towards it, and our language is totally different. Traditionally, racially, and culturally, we are closer to Burmese and Chinese or Thais. No Kosher, No prayers, No tradition originally relating to Jewish tradition. In fact, we were introduced to the God, Jehova or Yehwah, through Christianity, during the British colonial period, in which the NE of India became a part of British India. And we all became Christians. I have no problem with people converting to Judaism, but to claim genetic heritage is something else. There are many lost tribes and people being rejected by the Jewish community based on race, ethnicity, or acceptance of YSHWH. When their own family members accept YSHWH they say that they are still Jewish. If their daughters give birth to a mixed race daughter or son they say they are not connected and identify the offspring as Jewish conversions but not naturally chosen.
