Guys, this is it. Peak sports car. Period. I don't think we have seen or will see a better one. Looks, steering, handling, x factor and that Toyota reliable engine. Not peak track car, there's the 911 GT3 and Ferrari 458. But peak sports car, it's this.
This would make a perfect powertrain for a GR Camry, just slap a supercharger on top of that 3.5L V6 and you get a 400HP screamer of a Toyota Camry. lol.

I have an order in for the V6 Manual Emira (1 yr so far) and thought long and hard about the Cayman or Boxter 4.0 in Manual. Porsche make a great car, I own a Cayman S PDK now, but ultimately the Emira is more pure. My main gripe with the 4.0 is the stupidly long gear ratios. If I lived in Germany next to the autoban it could have been a different decision but I just would never get out of 3rd gear where I live in the 4.0, and I enjoy shifting. The Emira also sounds so much better, looks more modern, and has quirks I love.
Great review, one of the best I've seen. Colour wise I saw them all before opting for Magma Red, with ice leather. I'm 3 months in and absolutely love the car, supercar looks for sports car money and it drives brilliantly.
Loved the review. I debated between it and the Cayman and chose the Lotus. Exterior styling and the fact you won't see many out there were my key decision points. Still waiting for delivery. Supposedly by Xmas...
@@athix2 I have a first edition allocation spec'd and on order. Got to drive a sample a couple weeks ago. Mine is supposedly coming in November but the delivery date has slipped twice already so who knows when I will actually get it.

I took ownership of mine a week ago. I have the Dark Verdant paint with tan interior. I saw a Zinc Grey Emira yesterday and imo the grey looks the best
Have had mine on order for almost 2 years already, on a Hethel Yellow over Ice Grey Manual first edition, was recently told production for V1 Emira's is starting soon and I may be getting mine within 6 months, not sure how true but getting pretty excited, Been loving my A91 MT supra but feel like this is on another level when it comes to driving engagement, living in flat boring Florida I just worry if it is worth it. Glad I have it at the old MSRP of 95k for my build, would be over 10k more now.

I have a 2024 718S and I just got my Magma Red V6 manual 4 days ago and I just placed a deposit on an I4 to be delivered at the end of the Emira lease (end of 2027).
Owned Cayman GTS (X2) for 7 years total, own now GT4RS, drove C8 and M2, and now I own Emira..... forget about GT4RS for now... But only 4 cars I loved them so much in my life that I get to love the more I drive them and that's 981 Cayman GTS + Lotus Emira + GT2RS + 675LT... I can't decide which I prefer tbh between the 2, each have their own character, PDK + Flat 6 combo gives Porsche an edge in that while for me Emira gets an edge in styling.... so it's really back and forth, after 4000 miles in Emira and 40K miles spent on Cayman GTS cars I owned before I still can't decide which is best engaging daily sports car I have ever driven between the 2 I would pick both over a Carrera models or C8 or M4 or many other sports cars that are daily driven
The vents in the front hood aren't just for heat. They create actual downforce. Air flows in the front bumper, out of those vents and the air then flows over the windscreen pushing the car down, as well as over the fenders to push the wheels down into the road
Dark green, grey/silver or black. Problem in ireland is that it costs 140000 +(depending on spec) euro due to the illegal vehicle registration tax on any imported car
neat car...assuming it runs, doesn't have water leaks, creaky seats, paint drips, working sat/nav, AC with no glitches, and about 1000 other issues. They had to delay the US launch by over a year to to QC and engineering problems, and the owners are in revolt, I pulled my deposit last month. But a neat car.
I hate to be negative… But if I pulled my deposit about a month ago for the same reason. I hope Lotus gets their act together because it’s a beautiful car.
That isn't the reason that the car hasn't made the it's US launch. Just the US regulations are harder to pass than some, so Lotus concentrated on Europe and other markets
That car is stunning, but I think what truly makes it unique is the price. For a car enthusiast who wants something fun to drive, the price is actually reasonable to purchase
Gave a deposit for the emira about 1 year ago with no idea of when I'll get the car. Now thinking about cancelling and getting the f type r75. Emira has the manual but the jaguar has that amazing supercharged V8 which sounds incredible. Coming from a c7 z06 I think I'll miss the v8 sound... Not that it really matters to me but which car would hold its value more?
Jaguars have poor resale values, Lotus probably isn't too much better in that regard. The emira is supposedly the last combustion engined Lotus so it should maintain a reasonable value, I suspect the Lotus will be a better drivers car aswell. It depends on what you want though, if you want a GT the Jaguar will fulfill that role better but as a pure sports car the Lotus is easily one of the best for a pure drivers car.
That's a tough waiting period. My take on the F-Type is that the R75 isn't worth the premium. The P450 gets that V8, looks just as good, and is priced significantly less....if you decide to go that direction. That said, no F-Type is going to drive as well as the Emira.
I'd say the tail lights could be a little more unique in design. I feel a light bar going across to connect the two sides would complete it. Maybe the aftermarket can do something about it. Or possibly a face-lift update.
@@supermegakim yeah, I saw that right after I posted this. I guess that's a third brake light. Which means the trunk load height is pretty much right at the brake lights.
So great to know you're loving yours. I wonder if that extra HP could be achieved with an ECU remapping or require upgraded hardware like air filters, exhaust, etc.
Komo-tec, the most famous lotus tuner in Europe, can achieve the 430hp by remap (because the history of the engine achieving such an output in the exige and evora earlier models. The next step is 475 with minor hardware changes +remap. Consider doing it after the warranty expires. The main reason it has so few hp is because of ecological reasons, the engine can withstand way more easily.
Haven't driven the 718 Spyder, but I have driven the Cayman equivalents. Love the Caymans and the Boxsters, and would feel zero shame owning one over this, but I yearn for the Emira just a bit more.
I think you have the curb weight of the emira wrong: You have it as 3500, when it's 3200. I will pick Lotus for it's super car presence, but porsche for it's higher quality interior (Emira interior borrows from the Volvo parts bin... which isn't bad... for a lotus) and porsche for it's after-sales customer service. There are many nightmare stories on emira forums/facebook groups mentioning the nightmare of dealing with Lotus customer service. But if you've been a Lotus fan for years, you would know that owning a Lotus means you're also a part time mechanic! That doesn't change with the Emira, and I think people are taking notice (first time/last time Lotus buyers)
I have 2 issues with this car. 1, I'd have loved to see a bit more Lotus come trough in the form of less weight maybe from mechanical seats and less sound deadening among other things but that's highly subjective. 2, I can't afford one 😢
I typically don't really like yellow. However I think I could rock this yellow. For me it kinda reminds me of a Ferrari. Sorry to any Ferrari enthusiast.

I started driving in a stick shift car, fully adapted to automatic, almost my body forgot how to shift gears. After watching this, I feel like I got emasculated 😂
The car is beyond cool. But, we sure get selective with the whole power/acceleration isn't everything. If this were a Japanese car, it would be called slow.
Lotus is in a tough spot with their business model. Lotus has admitted that the Emira is targeted to the hardcore auto enthusiast and is not for everyone. For everyone else, you have to spend over $150k for an EV SUV or Sedan, something the brand is not known for by it's core demographic. Outside that core demographic, it's unclear the general public will be interested in the brand, especially considering the ridiculously high price of their EVs so far. So that means, in spite of it's brilliance, Lotus needs a product with broader appeal than the Emira or even their current EVs. Once Lotus goes all-electric, as promised in a few more years, no one who is currently buying the Emira manual will be interested in the next product. Lotus has a gap to fill and a dealer network to shore up, otherwise the brand is done for. So for those who love the Emira manual, get one now, because there aren't enough of you to keep the brand alive, and to survive Lotus will no longer have a product for you.
