Now who would have thought that LSU and Florida would be 2-5 and 2-6 in SEC play, respectively, and that the Ragin Cajuns would be the best college football team in Louisiana. (LSU fan here!)
Great video. One comment, at the beginning you said "formerly known as UL Lafayette before 2017", this part is not accurate. The university has been UL Lafayette since 1999. When the name change occurred, the sports teams rebranded as Louisiana. That has always been the sports brand since 1999, the only thing that has changed in recent history was more media outlets and the SBC has stuck to the branding the Cajuns had been going by for nearly 20 years.
True!!. Before the name change, it as known as “University of Southwestern LOUISIANA” or for short “USL”. I graduated from there snd a native of the state.
The Ragin Cajuns definitely deserve attention. They just haven’t had a moment in the spotlight yet. App state got their moment when they beat Michigan in ‘07, the Chanticleers got theirs by just being an overall dominant team for a long time, so The Ragin Cajuns will soon have their moment.
Fun fact: one of the newer guys on this team, Jalen Clark, is someone that went to my school and was not only a best friend.. but a brother to me... he played starting QB for Alabama Christian Academy and played games even with a fractured hand. He has so much potential that its not even funny.
Lsu will sometimes play them and I've even heard of bama paying them to play them, and they have been so good that LSU wouldnt play them, I think they were scared to lose honestly
Of course this was 2 years ago. Doesn't take long for things to trend downward. In the larger picture, UL has never been known as a great team. In fact, UL holds a losing record all-time. Biggest wins were beating Texas A&M at Cajun Field when A&M was ranked in the too 25 back in the early 1990s. Then, in the 2010s they beat Kansas State, again, at Cajun Field. Power 5 teams don't like visiting Cajun Field.
