I love how after Thorndyke sees Tennessee and Herbie's back half passes him, he tries so hard not to laugh while getting very angry and blushing at the same time.
I loved it how Herbie was always trying to help in the best ways possible even to an extent of keep his friend safe in the back even while it's detached
This is the first movie I remember seeing in a theater. I still remember laughing uproariously when the back of the car passed the front. It was the most hilarious thing I'd seen in my young life up to that point.
My mum was 7 years old when this movie came out. Her mum (my nanna) took her to the drive in theatre back in 1969 to watch it. Mum doesn’t remember much but she vaguely remembers seeing Herbie onscreen
I just had an intense realization watching this for the first time in years, that this movie alone sparked every single interest of mine going forward, when I was a very young kid. Everything I hold dear to my heart was in some way, influenced by The Love Bug.
