No; their affair was only known inside the court and her close circle. Perhaps because it was her only affair. So it didn't blacken her. Her reputation was blackened by numerous others affairs she was claimed to have, but this, which was likely her only affair, was'nt really known in public, only among her own circle and court.
well wether they actually cheated you know physically did things is still not proven and I don't Marie would've done that being it too far much a risk to her and to her country so she still stayed loyal just that she had feelings for him.
What? Marie actually like and loved louis XVI just not in that way, she refuse to leave him in France alone and refuse to escape without him! she could have escaped as was advised by several minister that the Queen and the child should go to Vienna and await crisis like many of the french noble did including her friend Duchess polignac
She was like all woman allways had been, looking for something better than what she have/had today or like this some long time ago. NOTHING has really chanched and we men knows that offcourse.............
Yes, its sad that some people still regard it as slander if a woman in arranged marriage has an affair; its rather something to be admired to break free from that system and manage to find love even in a society which preferred women to be faithful even in arranged marriage, and look down upon them if they didn't. Everyone has the right to find love.
