"The Letter" from the Box Tops is a classic. Definitely an old school feel to it.

This is my favorite from the Lovin' Spoonful, but other hits from the band are: "Daydream," 'Do You Believe in Magic," and "Did You Ever Have to Make Up Your Mind." These are all solid, iconic Sixties hits that everyone should know. Don't skip them. A song from the 80s on the same theme is Billy Idol's "Hot in the City."

Yes to the Box Tops 'The Letter". If you want to explore the 60's more in depth, you need to include some of the Bubblegum genre. Best examples are "Gimme Good Loving" by Crazy Elephant, "Yummy Yummy Yummy" by Ohio Express, and "Quick Joey Small" by Kasenetz Katz.

This classic was released in late 1966 (it's hard to believe it's over 55 years old!). They had a string of hit songs and this is one that still holds up after all these years.

You can't imagine how many times this song has been used in TV shows, commercials, movies, over the last 55 years. It's a classic 60s song.

The Lovin’ Spoonful was a fantastic band. And while their catalog is not that big, there aren’t any bad songs in it. Check out “do you believe in magic,” “you didn’t have to be so nice,” “6 o’clock,” “Rain on the Roof,” and the best one of all,“darling. Be home soon.“ Also, you mentioned the box tops, the box tops were another great 60s band, you might even consider them one of the earliest garage bands. Their biggest hit was a song called “The Letter“ and was the number one or number two song of 1967, depending on whose chart you’re looking at. But they had some other good ones as well. I liked “Soul Deep“ from 1969 I gotta hand it to you. you’re digging through the right decade to find the best music. There’s more of it than you can even imagine. And you haven’t even delved into the treasure trove that is Motown records.

Lovin some Lovin Spoonful! Reminds me of summer in Coronado, CA when I was a kid. It was blasting from the hippie vans parked along Ocean Blvd. Dam, I'm gettin old!
