1966 - Lucy was about 55 years old here... and George.. a spry 70. Lucy played her part SO WELL that one tends to forget that she was the head of Desilu Studios.. and a Giant in the world of entertainment, both on and off stage. George lived and entertained another 30 years and passed at the age of 100 in 1996. Pioneers and Legends.

This was real entertainment . Makes me sad 😔 how little people today don't realize what they're missing...all if them are gone. All we have are these recordings to remind us. George lived to be 100.

Lucy's role in their act reminds one of Gracie Allen. Basically the same routine. Well done.

I Love George Burns and Lucille Ball together in this skit. The beginning of their act did remind me of Burns and Gracie Allen; but the second part - amazing the dancing, singing, - graceful, fun, and just plain wonderful to watch. Lucy looked beautiful - hard to believe she was 55 here - lovely. Lucy seemed so happy - had a good show "The Lucy Show" in a good marriage, I felt happy for her - she gave so much. (However, I had wished in the beginning that she and Desi would work it out and stay married.) But Desi's addictions took a toll on his marriage and on his health and well being - when I saw picture of him after he was divorced about 1961 he looked about 60 and he was only 43. Hair was almost white, face bloated and lined. Sad to see. When he remarried he looked better, not great but better. Happy that he also had a good marriage. However, his wife Edie almost divorced him for the same problems but they stayed together till her death.

didn't "The Lucy Show" air from: 1962----- 1968?
@fromthesidelines
@fromthesidelines 7 лет назад
YES. The only reason it ended was because Lucy sold "Desilu" to Gulf + Western (who owned Paramount) in 1967- and she didn't want to appear in a series that was owned by "somebody else". She created "Lucille Ball Productions, Inc."....and "HERE'S LUCY", in 1968.

@@fromthesidelines Paramount did co-produce the first season of _Here's Lucy,_ and then that was that.

Paramount also handled distribution of the series through the 1970-'71 season. After that, her contract with them expired, and all rights reverted to her (she also moved production from Paramount to Universal for the last three seasons).

It was a surprise. Lucy and Vivian. It was a shame that Lucy turn down Vivian Vance for a raise and partly created crowds. The show would stay up in the credits. I always wonder if they think if Lucy could keep the show going.

I actually liked it better with Lucy and co-star Gale Gordon and various stars - George Burns, Jack Benny, Eddie Albert, Burton and Taylor, Dean Martin, Carol Burnett and Vivian Vance came in as a guest star in several shows. Enjoyed it more.

Other stars appearing on The Lucy Show: John Wayne, Don Rickles, Frankie Avalon, Paul Winchell, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Paul Winchell, Sammy Davis Jr and The Milton Berles, et al. - showed Lucille Balll's ability beyond sit com playing with the various stars. Loved the diversity. While "I Love Lucy" was my favorite sitcom ever, "The Lucy Show" seasons 4-6 seasons was really special too.

Vivian didn’t leave because she was turned down for a raise. She remarried shortly before The Lucy Show began and commuted between coasts every week. She gradually decreased her appearances and eventually decided not to return as a regular. Lucy would have paid her anything she wanted but she preferred to stay home with her husband.
