I am in my 70s and have been a Wille Nelson fan since I was a teenager. Always loved his music. One of the first ones I remember was "Turn Out the lights the party's over. I remember as a teenager wondering why I didn't hear more of him stuff on the radio. But as I got older, I found out that although I wasn't hearing him sing, I was hearing all the great songs that come from his great songwriting. Dan 🇺🇸

This was a great song when I last heard it and it's still great. It should be played on country music radio right in the middle of every play list on rotation.
Helen Reddy also performed this song, well worth listening to her perform it. I can imagine a duet of her and Willie doing it. This is a really great cover 👌👏👏👏✌️

Ray knew he was dying at that point. Willie shed a little tear during that one. I think that was at Willie's 70th birthday, but I don't recall for certain.
Let's not forget Donny Hathaway had an amazing hit with this too. Unless I'm mistaken, Leon wrote and dedicated this song to Kris Kristofferson's future old lady, Rita Coolidge. Great song !!! Whether Leon, Donny, Ray or Willie !!!
