Hi Gene, totally unrelated to this video, but regarding rods would a medium or medium heavy rod pull a 50lb fish (catfish in South Africa) ? Should I rather use a heavy rod or extra heavy rod as I would then need to buy a new one and I'm almost certain it would be to stiff for my liking.

I shaved mine off because it started to get too hot but dont tell her cause she thinks I shaved it off for her. Lol!!!! No seriously, great video man. Im going out again on Friday with my son and Im going to tie on every lure you mentioned plus a Senko. A Senko is my panic bait as you call it. Truth be told, I hate fishing a jig. Ive never caught anything on a jig but a snag. I hate fishing a jig as much as you hate fishing a Senko but I really want to learn to fish a jig successfully so Im going to focus on that this summer. All depends on your lake. and what you enjoy doing. I've watched all kinds of videos that say, use this lure on this day, or that lure when the weather is (blank).. I have caught fish on a texas rig all season long. My advice is just spend time out on the lake and figure out the patterns. After that, you can throw a block of wood, or a lego.😂(both videos on youtube)

@rainbosprinkles6548
@rainbosprinkles6548 3 года назад
As someone who owns those exact 3 plus a lews reactor and lews classic pro, the revo x, slx, and speed spool are all almost identical. It gets into how each feels in hand because otherwise, I think they're all about the same. They are a step up from the lower 60-80 dollar reels and it is noticeable. @@hamzah3381 This reply may be a long one, but I want to explain why I pick what I do. So, Ill answer the question in the context of how I use them. That is, I use them for bass and inshore red fish/spec trout/flounder. I do not own a rod/reel combo for every different lure or every technique so they do double duty. I fish from banks, a kayak, and rarely a boat. Additionally, Im just a regular guy, not a pro. I enter amatuer tournaments maybe 1 time a year. I can tell you I did not like my 13 fishing reel. It was the blue TX reel by them. It felt the cheapest and performance dropped off after having it for a short time. I like the feel of the shimano slx but I dislike having to take the side plate off to adjust the centrifugal braking. The shimano only has 11 or 12 lbs of drag, which has not been an issue but it sits in the back of my head. The shimano feels really good in hand and is a smooth real. The newest Lews is very nice. External magnetic brakes, 15lb drag, no click on the spool tension, 10 bearings (kind of gimmicky to me), and feels good too. Revo x has the external brake, drag/tension/brakes all click when moved, 15lb of drag. It feels extremely similar to the Lews. The brake adjustment is a factor for me. Since I use them for multiple styles of fishing, having the ease of quick adjustment is nice. All the mentioned reels have an aluminum frame, which matters to me. Diawas do not. The shimano only has 4 bearings but us smoother than the 10 bearings in the Lews. All this to say, going forward ill likely be buying more shimano slx reels. The internal brake adjustment is outweighed by how refined and smooth it is. The revo x and lews are so similar. The newest version of the Lews or revo x would be what I would go with as a first time baitcaster for $100. The shimano is what Ill be using in the future. This is just what works for me and is simply my opinion. Other more seasoned anglers may have a better input. I dont think youll go wrong with any of those 3. Rod selection is a tough one too. For a $50 rod, the diawa aird x rods are great.

Kinda related to the content of this video but off on a tangent. I know you are sponsored by tackle companies but is it advisable to stick to one brand of tackle or is it better to have a mix of different tackle companies in my box

Mix it up. I am sponsored by a few tackle companies but non of them are exclusive deals. That way I can talk about anybody's tackle in my videos.

You can see in his video's he talks about bait brands that you never seen him sport the logos for and he always gives his ideal thoughts across the "bait board" and that shows this man is trying to help the fisherman not the fishing company's pockets but if you can get paid to support the baits you was gonna fish with anyway (cause they WORK) then BY ALL MEANS ...GET THE NET SCOOP we headed to the bank 🤜🏼💥🤛🏼 Love the content brother
