This was surprisingly not snooty. I respect that a lot. I always hate when channels like this trash talk lower end options as though all people can afford $400 sneakers. This was an honest comparison between all of them, which was great to see.
@Daniel C read the comments of all "minimal white sneakers", they bash the Stan smith or anything under 100 dollars, and if you don't say something that cosy over 200 then you're wearing trash. They love to say "full grain leather" Italian rubber outsole, and not know exactly what that really means. Gain leather is just basic "real leather". And rubber is rubber. I think alpha m made a recent videos trying to buy a new white pair, and he subtlety shades anything under 150. Same with the comments, it seems to be common projects or nothing, and you're trash if you wear Stan smith's/the likes.
I just subscribed to you because of THIS specific video. There are a lot of videos out there comparing white shoes but some have a little bit of options or have canvas shoes in them. This is specifically leather shoes and the comparison was vast.! I know which shoes I will be buying thanks to this video.! The Greats ones :D
As a guy who’s accused of having a white sneaker addition, I LOVE this video. I’ve watched it a few times. I also used to work in luxury retail and sold CPs. I actually got a client to buy 5 pair of Stans instead of a pair of CPs.
This video is incredible! I like the level of detail that you offer on each shoe, and I appreciate how you frame the comparisons into the context of the market, production methods, delivery timelines, etc.
Im not a dude but I watch your videos cause they're very informative. You're like the male version of Justine leconte. Educating people on style basics and tips and tricks. I appreciate the professionalism mixed with a tinge of casualness and I am SO grateful you don't scream at my face or pretend to be funny. You don't come off as pretentious or douchey like SOME male fashion RU-vid gurus too. AND NOT EVERY VIDEO IS SPONSORED!! Keep on keeping on!
Thank you so much for this video! Just what I needed after researching and coming across almost all of these brands myself (you helped me find some new ones in this video too!). If it wasn't for these specific videos there wouldn't be any other white leather sneaker comparison videos on RU-vid. Thanks again, Kavalier!
Wow the effort you've put out and the preciseness of the white sneakers unbiased comparision that guys hav been dying for has finally been out..man ive been trying to find cp alternative vids for so long n finally u have this humongous array of alternatives, i appreciate n respect ur work so much i had to sub n like the vid instantly.. this channel is underrated pls keep the consistency 👍👍 Thank u so much once again your effort is precise, humble and rightmost
I’ve been to Saks Off Fifth and always find Common Projects around $230-$250. Also, around Christmas time (at least last year) they were giving a lot of $80 “gift cards” (I say “gift cards” in quotes because you need to spend over $80, only one is usable per purchase, and the window to use it was a specific week) I used about 6 within the span of the week and got some amazing deals.
Watched the video 3 times thanks for all your hard work we definitely appreciate it. I know exactly which white shoes I will get next. ( greats w/ gum)
I must say.... it's about time that someone has finally gotten worked up about name branding shoes.. I appreciate your time & particular perspective on authentic footwear.... awesome sauce video!
the most honest and holistic video on leather sneakers. I watched this and was deciding between koio and common projects. CP is about same price with koio when it's on sale and that is what i bought. First day i wore it, i thought it is EXTREMELY uncomfortable, the leather kept biting in to my big toe knuckle, i bites a little in the heel too. Turns out, the leather is creasing inwards into my toe knuckle, thats why i'm feeling the pain. After bending it to develop crease and to break in, my 2nd wear felt great. CP=WORTH IT
Of the ones I’ve tried, I’d go with Koio or Beckett Simonon over CPs or Oliver Cabell (or any Adidas, of course). This is an excellent video. Excited for more excellent “full time” Kavalier content. So much value in one video!
That’s odd since you dedicated a video to acemarks sneakers. Why wouldn’t you commend that one? This is exactly why people get heat for the paid sponsors. You have to be consistent with what you recommend.
Quality video with substance and shows obvious time in the research and making. I hope the best for your channel. Sad that some of the style gurus get thousands of dollars for clickbait rehashes of "x tips for yyy", encouraging them to further slap out quickly done, shallow videos focused on purely leading in to the sale.
Great video dude! I like all the alternatives that are popping up in the market (mainly bc it lowers prices) but I still have to go with my CPs. The shape on those is just unmatched and the brand itself has a feeling of luxury behind it. Definitely worth the markup for me.
2 things: Greats transitioned to lower quality leather for their new batches and removed the Margom soles for some non branded one. Feels cheaper in every direction - guess this is what happens when brands try to increase their margin after their original hit. Epaulet is interesting too in the cognac color but slim margom but the white version is bad.
Bravo 👏🏾 Sir, you researched the hell out of this video. I hit the bell 🛎 after this one. Been waiting for this break down you answered all the questions I had to lower cost CP alternatives.
absolutely LOVE your dedication to thorough, educational, and (most importantly) unbiased content. first video i’ve seen of you and i can’t wait for more of this genuine content. take your time :) quality>quantity
Hello sir. I’ve been in a repetitive circle trying to figure out how I can figure out which of what seems to be the same shoe model by multiple people, I should buy. Your video is the first video I’ve seen that details all the elements I was trying to figure out how to figure out. Truly appreciate you taking your time to make this for us. It’s helped me a lot. When I buy I’ll more than likely buy through your links. Thank you again.
The only reason I started watching your videos is the unbiased review about each and everything, unlike others who are constantly advertising shit for earning money and salute to all those idiots who fall for the bait. I hope that your channel grows. Keep up the good work.
Excellent video! Great minimalist shoes style and quality tips! I have always wondered if Ecco Soft VII could be considered among the best minimalistic sneakers too. Keep the good work!
Man, i remember that day like it was yesterday. Years ago i went with my girlfriend at the time to tk max coz she wanted to buy new jacket. I wasnt looking to buy anything for me, but I suddenly saw on the shelf pair of shoes in cream color with golden numers on the side. It was my size (10) when i put them on i knew i will buy them. They were 70€ reduced from over 300€. Only later i learn that it was a common project. The best shoe i have ever owned. I loved that shoes. Never owned them again unfortunately-there are to expensive. Great video. Brings back good memories.
Thank you for putting this out there! Also good on youtube to recommend me this video to me. I already follow alpham, tmf and rmrs. I didnt think i needed another channel, you prove me wrong. This in depth content has taken a lot of work from you and it makes you unique. You understand we cant do anything with the tip "buy a good pair of white leather sneakers", you give us all the options, price points, pros-cons and give us a reccommendation on best price-quality relation complete with user experience! Amazing! You earned my subcription by this video alone. I do question tho: what about cheap shoes from wish and aliexpress? In the lower pricepoints you complained quality was shit and made in China, what if you go for a really cheap shoe (say 20 tops) that is meant to be exchanged fast (since in my experience, white shoes dont stay white, so its a waste to throw that much money on it) and did you take in account models from other sources aswell? (Massdrop puro, and like department stores like j crew?)
I can understand your point but unfortunately, not everyone has the money. I've personally always wanted a pair of Common Projects but id be too afraid for anything to happen to them! I just can't justify spending so much on a shoe no matter the quality. I know people who have Common Projects that have lasted for years upon years but what if you spilled some bleach, or your foot grows, or something irreversible happens. Just such a scary prospect!
Oven Mit yes I agree it was at first when I bit the bullet but before I purchased them I spent more than the cost of CP’s on greats and koio and other brand that when I pulled the trigger I finally see why they are priced so high.
@@temmuller9909 greats are a great value, good build quality and quality materials. The only thing about them that I'm not crazy for is when compared to common projects or even koio the toe box is a bit wider and chunkier not as sleek and the interior leather is thicker on the greats which makes my feet slip more easily when compared to CPs that have a thinner interior lining but i find it more comfortable than the greats. The greats are still comfortable and will hold up for years if you take care of them though. Lmk if you have any other questions 😁
as a 38.5-sized female new subscriber (who also purchase men and children's shoes on occasions), i absolutely love those reviews. very helpful thank you.
Dammm I am very impressed with the higher vocabulary and terminology you used like not kidding you used in this video alone like 5 words from my micro econ class.
This is how you make a video. Tell us what we want to know upfront, Abundance of information, and kept it concise. Every RU-vidr could learn something from this blueprint.
Personally white sole seems more versatile, you can dress it up or dress it down! Honestly, I've seen some impressive outfits with gum sole, but if you're going to invest money into a shoe (especially if it's over 100 dollars it should be relatively versatile. But gum sole pretty _a e s t h e t i c_
EXCELLENT JOB!!! I came to the party late but I just bought a couple of pairs of minimal white sneakers. I wasn't sure if I was going to wear them enough to make it worth my while so I bought a cheap pair of Levi 501s for $45. Its 3 days later and I just ordered the same from Becket Simonon ($135). Now I'll have a pair I can kick around and a pair I'll take good care of. Thanks for your vid.
I am also a huge fan of the HI podcast, sadly I didn’t manage to get a pair of the project twinkle toes shoes, but I did just order a pair of the Abington toe cap model in all white from Crown Northampton mostly due to this video. Keep up the amazing content!
The Kavalier, Nice! Also maybe you would be interested in JAK Royal Sneakers. Handcrafted in Portugal in small family-owned factory. For 140€ you get full grain leather upper, plain stitched cup sole and calfskin interior.
I have the grand os tennis Cole haans and they are ok. I paid $60. They’ve lasted a year but the leather kinda sucks and I doubt they’ll last more than another summer season. But cheap on sale.
Love you man, you do the work that needs to be done in a high quality, informative, and fun way. Keep it up youll be big before you know it, just dont forget us little guys ;)
Fantastic video! Just what I needed to see. I've been contemplating on the common projects for over a year but not anymore! I'm REALLY feeling those M. Gemi!
No, it isn't, Rose Anvil made shit up about leather, had no idea wtf he was talking about. It's been ripped apart on reddit a thousand times, we're sick of it.
His latest video, Koio vs Common Projects was also informative. He also reiterates that he had an expectation of a veg-tan leather construction for the price point of the Common Projects.
@@danielhakimi Rose Anvil is an artisanal leather crafter... if there's one thing they know, it's leather. There's nothing wrong with paying for a brand, but don't try to pretend like they're some mythical shoe worthy of the price if you remove the name. Sincerely, A Common Projects Owner who 100% paid for the brand
I think it’s worth mentioning that crown also has a wide last available for all sneakers (UK G width). As a wide footed guy this has been something that’s made me so happy to discover
I dont understand the appeal of these leather white sneakers in this style. I ordered some Oliver cabell low 1 and had to send them back. They look like clown/bowling shoes. Didn't find them aesthetically pleasing at all. I also ordered the greats royale and definitely prefer the look of the over the common projects style shoes. I think they did a good job blending the skate style shoe with a common project style shoe, but they just arent for me. Maybe I'm getting too old for Van's, but to me something like the Van's eras look way cleaner than this style of shoe.
"Made in China" does not mean inferior quality. The low-quality "Made in China" goods are usually offered at extremely low prices; and at that price point, you would not find good-quality goods no matter where they are made in. China also makes high-end goods, but it suffers a bad name.
I agree but the Raf Adidas are supposed to be high end but the quality did not impress. Country of origin should be considered because high end made in Italy etc shows that you are paying for expensive labor in a good factory. This can be deceiving at times and I've received made in Europe bad product but "Made in China" does scream low cost.
Bravo!!!!! Best and most informative review on RU-vid. Thank you so much for touching on the Raf Simmons Stan Smiths. I always wondered if they were worth the money. I've never been a fan of celebrity-endorsed products. You're generally paying the extra cost to the celebrity for the same quality as the cheaper version as you mentioned.
^^ They were taken apart (literally) to show what they are actually made of. They are not the best construction when compared to boots at the same price. But then Common Projects is a luxury item
Spencjon when did people start to think it s ok if luxury doesn’t adequate to higher standards in terms of quality? Luxury is luxury not because it s a bad investment, it s luxury because of the opposite reasons. And what I don’t like here is that people want to change the term of luxury to stick to stupid consumption. If we don’t denounce this, then we lose as customers. How did luxury brand came to be if it s not for the higher quality of their products? So pls stop justifying a bad quality/ price ratio with “luxury”, it s not an excuse.
alibabarouge I’m pretty sure Luxury for sneakers has already become style/brand over quality. They are a luxury item because their price is not justified by their construction/quality. Either way it’s just semantics (Luxury vs overpriced). We both agree they are a bad buy/not worth the money. That’s what I was trying to agree with you for.
Spencjon that’s where we differ, semantics is essential for a society to have a right compass and not get lost through the game of consumption. Because we can have real luxury if we fight for it.
Agreed. I've seen a lot of reviews of Common projects. He's blowing smoke out of his... The linings wear out within a year or two. They use low quality chrome tanned "fullgrain" leather. Only way they will last 7 years is if you simply don't wear them. Or baby them.
If you have style and enough shoes you might wear them once every two weeks. So yeah. They can last 7 years. Wearing the same pair non stop is poor taste and not good for your shoes.
Been a lifelong streetware more hiphop orientated fashion sense but as I grow in age my stylistic taste I'd like to say is growing with me and I stumbled upon your channel and I find my self stumbling back like a alcoholic out the bar often 😁 for tips and more importantly Ideas thanks alot bro👍🏼
What an incredible video. I've been searching for the perfect white trainer and despite living in the UK I'd never heard of Crown Northampton - I'll definitely be checking them out. Thank you for this video!
i think getting these luxury brands are stupid, adidas and stan himself deigned these shoes, just because there deingner or higher quality doesnt excuse he fact that they are rip offs just trying to capitilise on someone elses design and popularity
My last Five Four Club(Menlo House) was the New Republic Kurt sneaker and it’s been really incredible, especially since it was $60. It doesn’t get super dirty, easy to clean, so far pretty durable for the amount of abuse it’s been shown. Only complaint would be the suede color rubs off on the tongue and stains it. But it’s unbearable at that price point in my opinion. Great video!
Now that's a collection. I've got B-S Reid in black, white sole in the queue (going thru the full campaign currently) can't wait to check em' out. Great video Jon. And congrats on 40k.
Hi, I had a quick question about the reids. I'm close to pulling the trigger on a pair but from the photos it looks as if there isn't as much cushion and padding on the insole vs the other white sneakers brands in this video. Is that right?
Chuy83 That might be true, my sister like to wear no socks, and she loves converse and the kind of sneakers he wore. Bro your on to something you opened my 👀.
