Nice video guys! I just got done watching this, my wife napping on the couch beside me. The scotch god shout out was so loud, my wife woke up with a start, and the cats ran upstairs. Not only a good video, but, some unexpected comedy as well. Cheers!

I 100% disagree with the people that bitch about the banter. Some of your episodes couldn’t be written better than Hollywood writers. Also a live weekend night show would be perfect, bet the comments would be great.

It's always a matter of personal preference. I've had the entire Edition, drank them all, then restocked my cabinet with all. Of the lot, I really like No. 3. In my (maybe not so) humble opinion, Perfumer Roja Dove and the distiller did a stellar job. It's a personal favorite I keep going back to.

I have done this comparison about 5 times in the last year. I started out preferring edition 1 then 2, then 4 then 3. After all the comparisons, my order is not 2, 1, 3, 4. I have plenty spares of each. I am really impressed by 3. I think anyone who likes scotches like glencadam or mortlach will love 3.

3 is my favorite. Most American oak hence vanillas of the bunch. As a bourbon drinker too that may sway the needle for me.

@@ScotchTestDummies Very true. For me the 2 just does it all. But lets face it, none of these are bad. I love them all. You guys may want to do this tasting blind in the future. I would be interested to see how much influence the mystique of 1 and even 2 has on the overall judgement.

The "Touch that Wire" dude doesn't realize he can go find a pure whisky review somewhere else. I think that guy has the wrong concept for the Internet. First, your show is free for him, and he can turn it off any time he wants, so thee's no reason to complain. Obviously the rest of us think you guys are great! You're the best! Cheers!

There were about 130 casks used in edition 1, vs 370ish in edition 2. Editions 3 and 4 even more. I figured around 30-50k bottles of edition 1 and 150k of edition 2. 200k of 3 and 4.

By the way those cask counts are accurate, bottle counts may not be. I calculated this based on the cask capacities and evaporation.

Nice line up dummies! I saw an email from Macallan stating "Edition 1 - 120,000 bottles globally, Edition 2 - 229,000 bottles globally, Edition 3 - 250,000 bottles globally, Edition 4 - 300,000 bottles globally". The Ed 5 is black in the TTB label file. We'll see!

Your camera must have had the setting for focusing on your faces, I have never seen it blur the bottles like this video before. Not sure if that is a setting for your camera but I know it is an option on some cameras. Fantastic video to do the side by side by side by side comparison.

Thanks tom. this was on my dslr so the aperture was a little wide decreasing the field of focus. i'll try to fix it next time.

Not really a MacAllan fan boy but I need to be open minded and diversify. After one of your reviews, probably the No. 2 edition way back, I went to the store. Brown one or Orange one, sir? Hmm... I prefer orange, let me take that one. What an idiot I was. Now I’m looking at this $99 unopened whisky on my shelf when I could have been looking at the $1200 bottle. Nice line up guys and testing.

Have been waiting for you to do this. My rankings are 3>1>4>2. I just find 2 flat. I have backups of only ed1. Will probably get backups of 3 and 4.

I recently tried the #4, I personally thought it was not quite as good as the Classic Cut 2017. Maybe it's just me, or maybe I didn't give it enough time, but at higher proof and lower cost, I'll stay with Classic Cut.

Way off on the vatting size, Scott. If you look on the label below the edition number there is a code. The v stands for vatting and tells you the number of casks in each batch.

#1 and #2 for sure as they were the least produced. I think complete sets will definitely be the items.

Just a note the J in Roja Dove is pronounced “zha” not like the Spanish pronunciation. I think the No.5 is a burgundy/brownish label.

Great line-up. One local store has the # 3 and # 4 editions at $99 (other places at $120+) and the #2 at like $140. When Bart mentions those "sherry sour notes" is that like a sulfur tinge? Cheers!!

Great line-up. I still have the ED1 unopened. The ED2 I bought and enjoyed and the ED3 was a disappointment. Glad I didn't buy it. The ED4 I haven't bought and probably won't. Macallan needs to stop all this marketing strategy and focus on making good whisky. Why would you pair up with a master perfumer to make ED3. Great review.
