The Mad Hatters were a garage band from Maryland. They released one single in 1965, but were dropped by their label before they could release a follow-up. In late 1966 they signed with Fontana and released a cover of Lulu's "I'll Come Running," which had "Hello Girl" on the B-side. The song was written by John C. "Jack" Bryant, who was a member of another Maryland band, The Fallen Angels. (The Fallen Angels would go on to release their own version of the song later in 1967.)
