Here are interstitial segments from a 1960 episode of "Walt Disney Presents" about how Donald Duck became fed up with neighbors and became shotgun-wielding hermit.
I never knew the animation of Witch Hazel and Leslie Clark was from the 60s. I just discovered this episode now. I first discovered that animation on RU-vid from DTV monster hits when I was around 16 in 2008.
It would’ve been even better if Donald’s girlfriend Daisy Duck is in this story, she would travel to searching for him by tracking him down during her Journey and asking anyone who last time saw him or Show up as a nature photographer and steady desert wildlife until then she went to Chimney Butte and when she found him so messy and hairy, she looks a little scared at first, but Donald looked at her and saw her familiar pretty face. Donald: Daisy? Is that really you? Daisy: Who are you? And How do you know my name? Donald: Why Daisy don’t you recognize me? It’s me Donald! Daisy: Donald? Then she realize she has found her long-lost boyfriend even though Donald and Daisy are happy to see each other, Donald explain to Daisy why he end up like this. Daisy then told Donald that it doesn’t have to be this way and told him she once had a dream of a place that be just what he’s looking for, With Fresh air, blue skies, a beautiful lake and there are friendly neighbors and She tried to convince Donald to forget about those terrible neighbors and stop living the crazy life and come home with her, Donald refused and Daisy felt disappointed and heartbroken and she about to leave when she saw a sign that says “Danger Atomic Proving Ground” she found out that Chimney Butte has been designated an H-bomb testing site! And that Donald is in trouble and she know she still loves him and that she has to save him. Daisy went back to warn Donald about the danger he’s in. At first Donald didn’t believe her until the whole rock tower starts to rumble and he smell smoke and he found out that this whole place is going to explode! They both try to escape until Boom 💥! Then A pile of rocks spread everywhere, Daisy manage to survive, but then she looked around to see where Donald is, she thinks she has lost the duck she loves, she break down and cry 😭 and she been thinking there might be other boy ducks around, but none of them will compare to Donald. Then she hears a familiar voice. Donald: Oh Daisy it’s alright, don’t cry for me. Daisy: Donald? She turns and saw that Donald is alive! Daisy: Donald! (Jumps onto Donald and hugging him) You’re alive! (Kissing Donald all over his face) Daisy: Oh Donald I missed you! she joyously smooches her boyfriend in happiness. Donald: Aww Daisy🥰 I missed you too. Donald apologized to Daisy and finally accepts to go home with her and when they got home, they found a place somewhere with friendly neighbors and have peace and quiet (which they called it their Dream Home) and Donald and Daisy got married and start as a family and they lived happily ever after.
And maybe even along with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Pluto and/or Donald’s sister Della Duck and his nephews Huey Dewey and Louie and also maybe Jiminy cricket. Otherwise they would also do their best to convince Donald to change his ways and come home with them.
Or maybe it’s the other way around. When Daisy as a nature photographer went to Chimney Butte, she explores The high rock tower and into the cave, until she met The mad hermit of Chimney Butte. Daisy: Wow just a bit dark and creepy cave. Donald: Who has dare to enter my quiet spot?! (Angry grins) Daisy: (Gasps) Donald: (Gently investigating her) A nature photographer eh? Who are you and what are you doing here? (Before Daisy can explain to The mad hermit, after hearing that voice it sounded familiar to her, she’s looking all over his body with his familiar sailor suit and familiar face and bill, could it be what she think he is.) Daisy: Donald? Is it really you? Donald: Well of course I’m Donald Duck, but how do you know my real name? Daisy: (Giggles) Why Donald don’t you recognize me? It’s me, Daisy! Donald: Daisy? (Daisy nodded. Donald quickly looked at her and see her familiar pretty face, and he realize that nature photographer is none other than his forgotten girlfriend. I also think Walt Disney has forgotten to mention about honey 🍯 loving bears 🐻 and what does he mean by “Neighbors are for the birds”? I mean Donald is a duck 🦆 and ducks are birds 🐦.
